  1. Do you think Broward College Pre's should have change or stayed the same?

      I like the credit change.
    • The preq's should have stayed the same.
    • I think it's great because it helps more students to become prepared for the nursing program.
    • This is just a setup for more students to fail and for the school to get more money out of us.
    • Doesn't matter

Welcome Cathydotcom. I too will no longer be with the 2013 group. However January 2014 I plan to be sitting in the BCC Nursing program. It's a bit frustrating with the changes that were made however; I feel it is to weed out the weak. That's just my opinion. Again welcome.

Welcome Cathydotcom!!!

Hey Fearless_leader, I too will be joining BC's January 2014 Nursing program!!! Good luck everyone!!!!!

I too am looking at Nova's program. I just wish it weren't so expensive. I recommend bringing your unofficial transcripts into to them and have them review it before spending the money on applying. I know they don't care about the HESI, but grades are vital. You need an over (cum) GPA of 3.0 plus at least a 3.0 in their pre-reqs.

With the change in how many times the HESI can be taken.......are the minimum percentages no longer required for passing?

ex: if I got a 75% on one section can I still apply, and still be accepted.

Or is it now that the HESI test is only used for tie breakers regardless of the score.....ex: students A and B both have 3.3 GPAs and student A had an average of 79% and student be had an average of 75%. would student A be accepted over student be? or neither?

Welcome Dolce37! If I am understanding BC's website correctly they make sure you have the minimum Pre-requisite GPA and HESI scores. They are looking for at least a 3.0 Pre-req GPA and at least an 85 in Reading, 80 in Vocab, 80 in Math, & 80 in Anatomy & Physiology. Without any of those they won't even look at your application and you will be denied. That's what happened to me at least.

I hope I answered your question!

Thank you Cathydotcom.....I was looking at what is required to apply and there are two different paragraphs. One that applies to applicant up to May2013 and one for August 2013 and beyond. Only in the up to May 2013 paragraph do they specify percentages required for the HESI. So that is where my confusion lies.

I took Micro at BC and I got a B in it... I loveee the professor I took it with because she was very passionate and gave tons of extra credit. I didn't even have the book and I was able to manage that grade lol. Very sweet and kind. Her name is *****. I believe she also teaches at Nova

Hey Guys!

So I'm new to this website but I came across your posts and I decided that I would write on here because I am going to be applying for the Broward College AS nursing program for the August 2013 term. I have so many questions and whenever I try calling bc they are no help at all!! Maybe you guys can help answer some of my questions? I finished all the prerequisites, passed the HESI, and I just finished the HCP core class. I believe all I have left to do is turn in my application but I have no idea where it is? When I went to North Campus the lady handed me a "Health Sciences Limited Access Application" is that the nursing application? And do I need to meet with an advisor before I submit the application? Sorry for all the questions, I currently go to another college in Fort Myers so it's hard for me to figure everything through the phone. Please write me back as soon as possible. Thanks guys!!
