    Hi Everyone,

I placed my application for the August 2012 generic nursing program. I completed all my pre-reqs at Miami Dade College. I have a 3.34 GPA. I recieved a 92% on the HESI (I averaged all 5 scores that BC looks at). According to the Limited Access Application Information Page I was awarded a total of 10 points. 9 for the GPA and 1 for Broward Resident. I am hoping that this will be enough to get in to the Program. Hope to see you all in August.

    Hi everyone,

I started in May of this year. It has been very interesting so far BUT it is a lot of work. When they tell you that you will not have time for anything else, believe it. I have not slept good since I started. I do not know, maybe it's because I started in the summer term which you know is very fast paced. You have to study, study, study, assignments and practice your clinical skills ALL the time. Needless to say I cannot wait to get to the Hospital and start working. Make sure Nursing is something you want to do or else your not going to like it. Those of who are going to take the HESI test, just study and it'll be fine; do not panic. I do not think it was that hard as everyone was saying. Those of you that start in August, start reading the fundamentals book, Infection and Control is a good chapter to start reading and try reading the first few chapters as well. I have my first test today and it's on 11 chapters so it's good you start reading ahead. You do not have to but at least when you go to class, you will be prepared. I wish everyone the best of luck.

Hi. Did you order the 7th ed or 8th ed of the fundamentals book?
I think they are using the 8th ed. However i bought the 7th ed. On amazon for $10.98. So i could start reading the chapters, i dont think there are any drastic changes between editions. If they require the 8th ed in august i will get it when financial aid/loan is processed. I just sacrified the 10 bucks for now so i could get some reading done.

Thank you for answering. I might do that as well. The 8th edition is very expensive on Amazon but is cheaper than ebay by a few dollars.

Not a problem, it's really expensive that why i got the 7th ed for now. Can never do us no harm. If you have financial aid to cover it in August i suggest you just buy the used cheap 7 th ed. Then just upgrade in August. I dont want to wait till then to start reading. Everyone in the program suggest reading a head so am listening. Lol.

Are you just going to start at the beginning and work through the book? I tried to look up a reading list but I only found one for Nursing Process for North Campus. I don't know if each campus will have different assigned reading.

I've read that the first test covers 11 chapters. Just wondering if it's the first 11 chapters or just random.

The list from previous semesters at south campus(Fall and Winter) has been Exam 1 - Chapter 1,2,3,6, 32, 33, 33, 34 and 39. I think 11 chapters is for the summer semester since it's more fast paced. From what I see there is not a huge difference in the text books so if you can find an older version it won't hurt to start reading it until finaid is ready for us(if you're waiting on taht money like I am to buy the really expensive and newer versions of books)
