U.S.A. Florida

Hi! This is a thread for anyone applying for August 2012 class at Broward College for the generic nursing track. I deferred my seat so I will be starting in August. I haven't decided if I want to go to central or south yet.. I'm super excited about starting in August! If I could help anyone with anything feel free to ask! :)

No I turned in the hcp certificate. When I completed the class I wasn't a CNA at the time. I just thought I could squeeze some extra points in where ever I can considering my points are on the low side lol. Thanks

Hey if you don't mind me asking, where did you take phlebotomy?

Base on your grade your nursing prerequisite gpa (excluding Chem Lab) is 2.7. Without HOSA (with HOSA additional 5pts)the maximum points for your nursing prerequisites is 16pt plus 1 points for being a broward resident which would be 17 points. That is :

4.0=16pts + 1pts broward resident= 17 pts

3.9=15pts

3.8=14pts

3.7=13pts

3.6=12pts

3.5=11

3.4=10

3.3=09

3.2=08

3.1=07

3.0=06

2.9=05

2.8=04

2.7=03

Then you can had the additional 1 point for broward resident if you are. Which would give you 4pts

Hi how is it that I have a 3.17 GPA and I only got 6 points. I do not live in broward or have the hosa points. And I only got an 82% on the hesi. Do you think I have a chance

Hello everyone. I just dropped off my application today after taking the Hesi yesterday. I have 14pts and 95% overall on Hesi so crossing fingers for good outcome. I did get nervous though when I was submitting my application because each of the two ladies taking the applications had a huge stack of applications on their desk and this was at 11am. It seems like a lot of people are applying for the August session. Anyone has any idea the amount of people they accept on average for Aug semester?

I hope they are accepting a lot. From your scores you have a really good chance of ring accepted. What campus did you turn your application in at?

I would double check that with the nursing department. If i am calculating it correctly you should have 7points. You should call to make sure. Make sure your only calculating your nursing prerequisite gpa because thats all they use. May term everyone that was accepted had a gpa over 3.0. And only two campuses were accepting student, in August all three campuses will be accepting students, which gives u a better chance. However majority of people that were accepted in May deferred their seat to August, so some seats are already taken. Just keep the faith as the waiting game begins! Goodluck

They accepted 150+ in May and that was just two campuses. So i would guess around 200-250 (just guessing) for all three campuses.

I turned in the application at Central campus. This is going to be one long month of waiting.

Did you apply to any other schools. I am looking into FAU and Nova. I'm trying to remain positive but I feel like I have a better chance of being accepted in January once the new math requirement is implemented.

Don't be nervous, with those points and that HESI score you will be fine, all three campuses are accepting applicants so they will be accepting more than they did for May, in May there were 333 and they accepted (153) and that was for two campuses. Even if many people deferred not everybody did so there will be some space.

I find myself checking it everyday and the application period hasn't even ended yet lol :(

Hi I applied to the August program also. Now to start the waiting process. Hard to believe there is still 5 more days till the applications close. :)
