Hello Everyone!

I'm getting this forum started early for those who are applying to the UF College of Nursing's Accelerated Bachelors of Science in Nursing (ABSN) program!

Feel free to get the discussion going... How do you stand among others (GRE, GPA, etc)? Go Gators! :)

Hi! I was waiting for something to get started on here. I have been reading information from the past few years to get an idea about some stats for admitted students as I will be preparing my application materials this summer for the 2015 class. I feel like my stats are decent, but I am nervous as I have been told they only admit about 60 out of 200-250 applicants.

I have also read the information from the past few years to get an idea of the applicants! :)

I think for the majority, most accepted people had around 3.7 in at least one part of their GPA (overall, last 60, prereq).

I'm extremely worried about the pre-req GPA as I do not have over a 3.5 :/

Have you taken the GRE yet? I'm also nervous about it since I have never taken it!

I have GRE scores on file from my graduate degree at UF, and they said that they will accept them even though they are a bit old. My scores are from the old test, and I scored 520 Verbal and 590 Quantitative. I remember preparing for it years ago, and I just used a prep book, like Kaplan. However, they do have preparation items on the GRE website that you can download and you can take practice tests or try out practice questions that can also help you gauge what your score may be. My undergrad GPA (last 60 hours) is about a 3.90 and my graduate degree is a 3.81, but my pre-requisites are only a little above a 3.5; I am hoping to bring this up with my two remaining pre-req classes, one of which I am currently taking.

I wish I can bring it up more but I have already completed my prerequisite courses :/ I wonder how much of the prerequisite GPA is taken into consideration? I have heard from different sources that the UF CON ONLY look at the last 60 hours (or the masters/ doctoral degree gpa), but I don't know if this is true. And it is really nerve racking to know that only 60 applicants are accepted from 200 applicants! I am currently using the Princeton Review and also the Barron's essential words for the GRE texts. From the previous year posts, people have been saying that they had an average of 150 on each section of the revised GRE and that some people didn't fully reach the minimum requirements (if I recall correctly.)

I hope more people will join in on this post in the near future! :)

Hi all! I am glad to see that someone has already started a group! I am planning on taking the GRE in September, any good study recommendations?

Hi everyone! I will be reapplying to UF's Accelerated BSN. I applied to the 2014 program, was wait-listed, but unfortunately didn't make it off the list. Graduated from FSU in May 2013 & finished my nursing prereqs there. have been working at UF Health Jacksonville since June 2013. My upper division GPA was a 3.5, & my GRE scores just met UF's minimum requirement (153/144). Using Kaplan book to study this time around (can't remember which one I used last year). Hopefully, with another year of full-time work experience in healthcare setting & higher GRE scores I'll get in this time. Best of luck to everyone!

I'm planning on taking the GRE in August! How are you approaching studying?

Using "Barron's GRE Math Workbook" & "Kaplan GRE Strategies, Practice, & Review 2015". making flashcards for the vocab words/roots in back of Kaplan book. The Math Reference in Kaplan book is really helpful because I haven't seen some of that stuff since high school (compound interest, factorials, standard deviation, etc) Both books have a lot of examples & practice problems w/ answers explained.

I have heard good things about the Kaplan books so that what I will probably use, and definitely some vocabulary flash cards!!

Does anyone know how the writing section of the GRE works? Are we allowed to skip it since the writing section is optional for UF CON?

I was wondering the same thing, I just signed up for my GRE and there isn't an option to opt out of it that I saw anyways.
