What do you think about the tech schools?

I live in Jacksonville. I am thinking about going to one of the technical schools for my LPN or RN (have not decided) and I have heard mixed things. Some say they are a rip off and nurses from there are looked down on and others have said "A nurse is a nurse" What have you heard? Or what do you know? I am interested becasue I have heard that you can get in a little easier and finish faster, is this true? The schools in my area are ones like Keiser, Sandford Brown, and some others. Please help!

I attend Keiser University campus in Melbourne, about 2 hours south of Jacksonville. I am in the RN program still doing my pre reqs. I start my Core in January. Keiser takes 18 months if you have all your pre reqs done. If you have to take all classes it takes around 24 months to complete. Keiser has an AMAZING reputation in my area. I chose Keiser because I contacted local hospitals and asked the question, "Of all the local nursing schools which would you prefer your new nurses come from?" 9-10 I asked said Keiser. Also, if you score well on your entry tests, there are 2, you can get in very fast. I applied in Jan this year and started in May doing my pre reqs. Although it is more costly than a lot of others, I am paying for a 'quicker' entrance and graduation; also paying for high first time NCLEX pass rate.

I would be glad to talk to you more if you have questions about Keiser. I do not know of the other schools you mentioned. Good luck. Contact local hospitals you think you might like to work in and ask them what I asked.
