Union thoughts for Florida Nurses

Hello all,

I currently work as an nurse in Florida but I wanted to get everyone take on bringing more unions into our profession. I personally think that is the only way we are going to get progress on all the things we find important (wages, benefits, patient ratios, etc). I am hopefull the Employee Free Choice act will be passed this year although it is going to be a tough fight. Do people have thoughts? Questions? Anyone work at a union facility with impressions?

I haven't had great experiences with unions. If you look at california the non union employees in San Fran and San Diego make more money and have better benefits in the union hospitals. Nurses need to band together and start staging walk outs and maybe a march on tallahassee to demand legislation regarding staffing ratio's. This would earn nurse some respect which is sorely lacking in the state of florida
