I see that a lot of people are talking about the expansion programs for nursing, and I was wondering if anyone was recently accepted into one? I was accepted into the Largo Medical expansion program and they have yet to contact me about turning in my contract. I was wondering if anyone accepted has already turned in their contract? I've already gone through the pre-employment health screening, but it just makes me nervous that I haven't signed the final deal.
Also, to give those hope, I was originally rejected from SPC and had a science GPA of 3.3, but was accepted into an expansion program, so it can happen! A good tip is to bring a letter of recommendation. I know it doesn't say to do so, but if you bring one I believe you'll really stand out. It may have been what helped me! Good luck to everyone!

Bring a letter of recommendation to the interview for the expansion program? Was your letter from someone in the healthcare field? I'm new to this whole aspect of it, so I just wanted to clarify. Thanks, and Congratulations!!

flg8tr36- I would try contacting SPC or meeting with an advisor at their healthcare facility to get more information. Or you can try contacting HR at Largo Med to get more info. SPC mailed out an additional letter along with the acceptance or rejection letter inviting you to participate in these expansion programs. They gave you the date of the info session and told you there'd be on-sight interviews if you were interested after hearing about the options. The hospitals that participated in the expansion programs that I interviewed for were Largo Medical Center, Baypines VA, and Northside. All of them are a little bit different. I think you have to have all of your pre-reqs completed in order to be eligible to interview.
Scrapworking- I brought a letter of recommendation from one of my doctors that I've had for the past 10yrs or so. It may have looked better since it was from a healthcare professional, but I'm not sure. A teacher's letter would work too, I'm sure! They seemed to happily accept anything, so it couldn't have hurt! Good luck!!

Does anyone know if SPC really follows their "selective admissions" process. It says that they notify you fairly quickly (4-6 weeks) to ensure you have enough time to prepare. It seems like most people on here are waiting months and months for letters and wanted some feedback from former SPC students. Thanks

Thanks, that's where I found my info. It explains the process and the time frame, however it just seems that most people are waiting MUCH longer than the 4-6 weeks that SPC says they take to send out letters. According to SPC's website, we should be receiving Spring 10 letters by Aug 15, and I just wanted to get some previous applicants feedback on whether that was realistic or not.
