You don't exactly have to have gotten into the SPC nursing program. I know many people who weren't accepted this semester or were alternates and where applying. You do have to meet ALL the requirements for the SPC program. Basically about a month before the program you go for an interview. Keep calling the number and checking with it.

I went over to SPC today and spoke with advisor "*" to find out what was going on with my application for the LPN to RN evening program because I had not heard anything or received any letters in the mail yet. There was a problem with my transcripts posting. I got in!!!!!!!!!!! Finally!!!!!!!!! See my saga on the following thread:

http://allnurses.com/florida-nurses/...425-page3.html

The advisor "*" and two other advisors who were in the office too told me that more letters for all nursing program options are going out this week. Wonder if that means orientation packets too?

Good Luck to everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!

wooohooo good for you GTLPN! way to go, and way to keep checking when you knew something wasn't right!

I'm an alternate, YAY, better than nothing. I was told by the end of July (I forget the exact date they said) I'll know for sure, unless someone drops out at the last minute, then of course it could be after the end of July.

Since I know someone will ask... I have a 3.8 gpa and I do not have micro or lab done, when I applied I was in the middle of taking AP II, and that is why I am an alternate. I am currently taking the online micro and micro lab.
I HOPE to see you guys there

So happy to have some real input! Will have finished all but 1 or 2 of my pre-reqs this fall - enough to apply for the Fall 2010 session. The last courses will be in the Spring - so I'm hoping!

Subscribing to this thread so I can keep learning more! Thanks!

Hey Sharon! I just might be with you fall 2010!! Wrapping my last pre-req up in the spring, and hoping to get into the EAYL program at Morton Plant also...what pre-reqs do you have left?

Hi!

This fall I have - A & P II, Psych, and Speech. Though I may move Speech to the Spring with Micro and add Statistics this fall. IF I can test out of Intermediate Algebra.

Where can I learn more about these EAYL programs?

What have you got left? On-line or on-site?

It would be cool to already know someone when we started! (See thinking positively!!)

LOL! If you check out baycare.org they have a brief description of their EAYL program, and HCA hospitals (Suncoast & Largo Med) has something called Beginning Nursing which is on their main HCA website. Each program is a little different it looks like, but both offer experience and training which is what I am also looking for. I only have Statistics left, and would be taking it in the fall but I'm expecting in the fall so I'm taking fall semester off. I've been taking my courses online which has been a great experience so far. I'm currently taking Ethics online and can't wait for summer session to be over!!

Interesting! I'll look into it - thanks!

Congrats on the upcoming addition to your family! My boys are teenagers, so I imagine that makes it a bit easier for me. They're pretty self-sufficient.

I'm online too, and taking A&P I - which I need to go do some studying on! I decided to go back to school/into Nursing when I was laid off in late April, and jumped right into it. I already had some courses at SPC that applied, so I'm better off than if I'd started new, but not quite as far along as I'd like to be. Good luck!

Thanks scuba girl. I am sure you will know something soon. SPC sent out orientation packets with information for drug and background screening checks on Tuesday, July 7 and several of us received the packets today. We have until 7/22/09 to get the screenings done. The orientation is on 7/23 at 3 p.m. I was told by several advisors at SPC HEC that the packets were for all programs. So I guess after this orientation they will check their lists again and contact the alternates for spots that open up. I will keep my fingers and toes crossed for you. Keep us posted.

Just wanted to let the Fall 2009 alternates know...I spoke with Advising about the alternate list. I was told on Thurs 7/16, that no alternate letters have been sent out yet because they were still waiting on some of the hospital's EAYL lists; these lists open seats for alternates. I was told that letters all go out at once, and that we should expect them next week...if all goes according to plan. Good luck all!
