I'm starting in January 2010. I wanted to start this Sept, but I guess I studied for the Net a little too long.

Yeah. The September program filled up back in April and I was one of the last ones to get into the January program. I'm excited but I will feel much better once I get the financial aid crap out of the way.

I haven't applied for financial aide yet. Do you think it's best to go in and speak w/financial aid or just apply for fafsa from home? I guess I should get it out of the way.

Hi!
I just registered on this site 'cause I was reading all the posts re: Orlando Tech's LPN program and getting excited!!! I too will be in the 1/2010 program. I don't think I will be starting in January since I already am a CNA and a certified phlebotomist (I work at Florida Hospital as a PCT in Medical Oncology/nights) and you can test out of some parts. I'll know more in December at our mandatory inofrmation session.
The programs are filling up faster did they did this year. They are already starting May which didn't become full this year until mid February. I passed my NET on 4/30 and passed in all my info on 5/5. I filled out my FAFSA at home online and went in to the financial aid office about two weeks later but was told it wasn't in the system yet. I waited awhile and went back at the end of June and then found out it had slipped through the cracks. So, I would suggest visting the office and doing every step with them.
I'm looking forward to meeting everyone in my class. Can't wait to get this started!!!

Thanks for the info! I went ahead and applied online on Fafsa's website, but now I will follow up with financial aid in a couple of weeks. I'm excited to to begin the Practical Nursing program in January too I know Jan. will roll around before we know it.

Good luck to everyone starting at Orlando Tech. I'm a January 2007 grad and eventually went on to Excelsior College and I am now an RN.

Orlando Tech is a great program and will prepare you if you wish to continue on.

It's awesome there's actually a few of us that will be in the same class together. I wish our info session was sooner.. we ARE supposed to get our orientation invitation letters in November, correct?

I was pleased to find out that they revamped the Orlando Tech website.. it actually has easy-to-find information, and doesn't look like it's from 1998. I was also happy to find out our January program is only 12 months long, not 15 like I thought. We'll be LPN's in a little over a year.

I filled out my FAFSA a couple of weeks ago.. I'm going to stop by the financial aid office tomorrow and see if they can give me any info. I know for a fact I can't get a pell grant because I'm still considered a dependent of my parents, and my father makes too much money, though not enough to help me drop $4500 for tuition.
