New palm vein technology

Hello all,

I was just curious if this new palm vein technology is the ONLY thing they will be using now for first time test takers. Or is it this AND fingerprints as well?

Thanks!

Additional information would be helpful...

Are you referring to taking exams through Pearson? If so, I have found that they use the palm vein scanner for new & old test takers during entrance & exit from the exam. The finger print reader has only been used during registration.

Yes I am referring to taking the actual nclex exam through Pearson.

I read somewhere they will be using ONLY the palm vein technology for first time test takers? No fingerprints? Whats the point of this? Is it like another criminal background check?

It's just a more tamper-proof method of ID recognition. I have no reason to suspect that either the fingerprint or the palm vein has anything to do with background checks. I believe they basically associate your photo with the finger/palm print, and then verify the prints when you check in/out of the exam. The palm vein imaging is harder to trick vs a finger print which could be done reasonably easily.
