LPN's as Triage Nurses?

by NHanCI

.. Hey PpLz!
Yes, another post.. you cant ever ask too many questions, Lolz! A few days ago, I took my step son to the emergency room (Broward General Hospital) and was VERY intrigued by the triage nurses.. That’s really a position I would like to take on.. I'm currently taking steps to become a LPN to later pursue my BSN.. .
Anyhooz,
The nurse that was taking his vitals told me she was a LPN and is currently in school for her RN Degree.. Do hospitals really hire LPN's for Emergency Room Triage? Or was she one those ppl that know ppl who know ppl.. I should've probe but I wasn’t there for me.. As usual all replies are welcome

I work in the ER in Registration,we have a mix of LPN and RN, I am not sure if the Triage nurses are LPN or RN. Alot of hospitals are hiring LPN's but calling them something else...ie. tech this or tech that.

I am an LPN that works in an ER. All of our triage nurses are RN's with at least 18 months of experience in the ER. We have our LPN's or techs help in triage, getting vital signs, taking pt back to room doing ekg if needed and removing sutures/staples. But as far as doing the triage exam that is up to our RN.
