Re: Does anyone knows if a 3.29 GPA will make it to the fall nursing program?
Futurern1976:
This is what the BC website says about pre-reqs:
The following pre-requisite courses must be completed with a minimum 2.5 GPA, prior to submitting the Nursing Program admissions application
*ENC 1101 Composition I 3
*CHM 1032 Chemistry for Health Sciences 3
*BSC 1085 Anatomy Physiology I 3
*BSC 1085L Anatomy and Physiology I Lab 1
*BSC 1086 Anatomy Physiology II 3
*BSC 1086L Anatomy and Physiology II Lab 1
Yes they have to be completed by the time you apply, however, the deadline for fall is May 15th. You will be done in time to apply. But it is recommended that you also have the general education classes are completed prior to entering into the nursing program, since its so vigorous. Here are the general ed classes:
Additional General Education Courses Required
*MCB 2010 Microbiology 3
*MCB 2010L Microbiology Lab 1
*APB 1600 Pharmacology 2
*MTB 1370 Math for Health Related Professions 1
Elective Humanities/Fine Arts (writing
requirement) 3
Elective Social/Behavior Science 3
Total Semester Credit Hours 27
The pharmacology class and the math are the only 2 classes that you have to be in the nursing program to take, and are taken during your first semester in, along with Nursing Process. Whatever you don't have done, you can take during summer semester while you are waiting for the program to start. BC looks at program GPA only (only for the pre-reqs, not for the general ed classes) so with a 3.59 you're more than likely in, but its probably higher than that with all A's in the sciences, not sure what you got in English. Last round of applicants was the highest number of applicants so it was very competitive. Hopefully it won't be so then....I will be applying for fall also, too!
Oh and BC doesn't require you to take Chem lab, so they won't look at that B you received.
