If you haven't taken the nursing pre-reqs yet, you can take them then, apply to a school that only looks at the pre-req gpa and not your overall gpa. You may have a hard time finding a accelerated program. My undergrad GPA was a 3.2 and I couldn't get into an accelerated program in the South FL area. So, I decided to attend an ASN program and then, bridge into an MSN.

What is that program like? The bridge from ASN to MSN? Where are you taking it and how long is the program? This may be a good alternative to accelerated BSN candidates who just can's make it in with their undergraduate gpa. Thanks!

I'm not in the RN-MSN bridge yet. I'm completing my RN this summer. For most master's programs you need at least a year or two of work experience before you can apply. The programs vary because an MSN is a master's degree in a field of nursing. I'm considering anesthetist, psych, ortho or midwife. Once I start working, I'll have a better idea of what I want to do.

The nursing schools that I have attended took the GPA of only the classes that they were transferring into the program. I was accepted into an ADN program in NE Florida with a 2.5 GPA and accepted into an online RN-BSN program with a 2.3 GPA. I want to go to an MSN program next year, and I have to have a min. of 2.5 GPA, so depending on what I get in this BSN program, I may have to take some extra classes. I'm not sure.

Good luck!

hi rattle princess, this is what you should do: first do research on the minimum requirements that bsn schools demand...some schools maybe 2.0...2.3..3.0..it depends..and while your at it look at what are the prereq..some schools only look at your prereq gpa or overall gpa and nothin else...while other schools look at work experience and letters of reccomm. and weight that equally with gpa...call the schools ur interested on attendin and ask them questions about admission stats....in any event a lot of schools do place heavy emphasis on prereq gpa then anythin else so i would suggest makin sure you do well in them..if you have to retake some to higher your preeq pa..by the way...i heard that drexel accel. program is easy to get into...people have gotten in with close to your gpa...dont worry, youll find an accelerated program or at the least a traditional program that youll get accepted into, its just a matter of doin your research on the best schools to apply to based on your applicant stats..go to http://www.aacn.nche.edu/Education/pdf/APLIST.PDF ..this is a list of all the accelerated programs there are...hope this helps.good luck!

Hey,
I am in the same situation, having 2.9 GPA from my first bachelor/masters degree from another country. In this situation I chose to get an RN first (Associate degree) and then go to get my BSN/MSN.
I am interested in CRNA master program. Do you know any schools in Florida or other states who take RNs into bridge MSN program with CRNA specialization???? I spoke with USF representative, and they said that if I want to become a CRNA, I have to finish my BSN first and they apply for CRNA program. They do not have a bridge RN-MSN (CRNA) program at USF. But may be other schools do?
