While getting my RN a few years ago, upon touring the life flight center of a major regional medical center near Chicago, I was told that a man my age (42 at the time) was too old for serving as a flight nurse. Never mind that I am in top physical shape, and a triathlete. Ticked me off royally... only mitigating factor is that I am not qualified otherwise to do it yet, anyway. Still need ACLS, CCRN etc. Yep, age discrimination is real, folks. It stinks, so glad to see other places have fewer restrictions. Only performance counts, and nothing else... such as age, sex, etc. That's the bottom line for me. Just my $0.2....

Yes, age discrimination is everywhere. You'd think it would change with all the aging Boomers, myself included, but I think it hasn't changed one bit.
There are many Olympic athletes pushing 40 and beyond. It's good that not everybody feels this way. Hey, I know some senile 20 year olds! Age is just a number until we drop dead, I say.
