Exploring different areas

Im a 31 year old male starting school this fall and planning on going into nursing. Ive been looking at what all the field has to offer and life flight, ER and areas of such interest me the most. How do I get into these areas of the field? What experience is required? Are these experienced positions or can a new grad step in and get experience? What routes do I need to take to work in these specialty areas. Thanks.
