What's the status on new grad positions in BOSTON?

Boston has been my dream city for.. ever, and it's more so now that my boyfriend moved there for his job (and I'm back in CA). I have been applying everywhere in Boston (seriously googling "Boston hospitals" and applying to all the adult hospitals that show up), even in the surrounding areas. No responses, and as far as I know, no one else has gotten a job there as a new grad either.

I know that for the last 2 years it's been near impossible to get a job as a new grad in Boston unless you're already in the system as a CNA, etc. but I haven't seen any new info about it on allnurses. I just wanted to know if it is actually straight-up IMPOSSIBLE, so I can make an educated decision on whether I should just make the leap, move to Boston, and just hope I will find a job sometime.

Please, anyone? My little heart is breaking.

It is not impossible but it is hard. Sometimes even having an "in" doesn't do you any good. I work as a CNA in a Boston hospital and I won't be getting a job there. It is all about luck I think, can you find the right facility, at the right time..

Good luck in your search and I hope you get to move to your dream city!

That's brutal. What are you planning to do, will you stay in Boston?

STATUS: There are NONE!

I also work as a CNA in a major boston hospital. Been there for almost two years. I graduated in May 2009 and been a nurse since Nov 2009. I spoke to my RN manager and the RN recruiter and they are telling me to look elsewhere. Unless you want to work in a nursing home, MAYBEE they will take you.

Only advice I can give you is that Spaulding Rehab Hospital takes new grads sometimes only for full time positions. But even getting an interview there is tough....

Good luck..
