Re: Tips for nurses in their first year of nursing
another THANK YOU to those who have posted such great advice, tips & experiences.

im a new RN... graduated in june, passed boards in august & am accepting a job offer @ a SNF tomorrow.
...i know im going to be overwhelmed with the ratio... but i guess ill be overwhelmed no matter what, right?
im shocked reading this to see how many students received such little clinical experience in school... i didnt realize how good mine was... for example, i had a 150 hr preceptorship on tele (ICU/IMC) before graduation & i had wonderful preceptors. they didnt hover over me constantly, but they built my confidence & were always available for help or to answer questions. i worked my way up to 6-8 patients before my 150 hrs were up, doing all nursing care & charting on my own unless i needed guidance. not bragging, just bummed to see that so many students are missing out on the positive experience that i had.
...ill get back to you all when i have some 1st year of nursing advice to give
(sorry i got a little out of control with the smilies haha)
