Testing July 2!

  1. Just 47 days after graduation and I finally got my authorization to test! I got up at 1:00am (very antsy these days) to check my e-mail and it was there! I'm scheduled for next Wednesday, July 2 at 2:00. I'm sooo excited and sooo nervous. I wish I could just take the dang thing today and get it over with. I'm gonna be on
pins and needles until then. Several of my friends have scheduled theirs weeks away..... couldn't handle the anticipation. I think I'm gonna review until Monday and then just say... if I don't know it by then... I'm not gonna! Oh man..... :-)

    Any words of wisdom?

I couldn't get a test date until July 15. I'll be on vacation the week before, and have to fly home a day early to have a day to recover before the test. My family will drive home as originally planned.

Relaxation is the best thing. Take it easy the night before. Don't sit up studying. Kick back and relax before you start the test. Your mind is much more clear if you are comfortable. You will all do fine.

I also am taking my test on July 2nd. It's so frustrating because I have been doing the on-line Kaplan course and I have been doing the best I can. Yet, on the last practice test I did, I only got a 61% on comprehension, a 73% on application, and on the NCLEX analysis level - a 55%. That's in spite of getting a 100% on the knowledge level, plus you would think that since I graduated with high honors, I wouldn't be sweating about passing this one test. But I sure am. I am not feeling good at all about passing it. I know it's not the end of the world if I don't, but there is something discouraging about doing the very best you can do and still feel like it's not good enough.

Plus, I start work the Monday after. Like someone else said, I sure hate the idea of telling my new nurse manager that I didn't pass. And since I did the Kaplan course and feel I have done all I can - what else is there to do?

I have been lurking around, watching these boards for some time. So I thought I would weigh in with everyone else on passing the NCLEX. I wish us all good luck.

    dsczephyr,
I have several friends who are doing Kaplan and I am hearing the same complaints from them. Somehow I think Kaplan wants you to doubt your ability.... (then you are more dependant on them). One friend is getting 58-64 on their practice tests but is getting 73-78 on say Saunders. I took one of their practice test and got 68% on most other I've been scoring above 75... Who knows...

    Don't doubt yourself!

Thanks for telling me. I am glad to hear I am not the only one struggling with this. At this point, I simply want to get the test done and over with. And I think most everyone gets to that point. I still have three practice tests to go and I'll see how I do on those.
