Well, all in one week I took boards, interviewed the next day and found out I passed and got the job the day after that! Last week was a very filled/stressful week. But, I start my first RN job August 22. It's at the Cleveland Clinic in the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit! I'm looking so forward to starting. I'll be doing 2 12's and 2 8's with rotating weeks, one week days next week nights. Better than straight nights I guess.

Specializes in Tele, Home Health, MICU, CTICU, LTC.

Congrats on the new job! I don't think I could handle those kind of rotating shifts. Remember to get your sleep!

Specializes in Med-Surg, Geriatric, Behavioral Health.

Congrats to you and good luck on the new job!!!

The stress is behind you now, just look forward to spreading your wings. I too start on the 22nd in my first RN position on the renal floor at a local hospital. I will just be working 2- 12's part-time which is all I can handle at the moment. Can not wait to get started.... Good Luck to you...

Wow! What a week! Congratulations!! That is quite a shift too. Good luck to you!

congratulations and best of luck

Congratulations on your new job...how exciting :) !!

Congratulations on finishing nursing school and passing your boards. That is very stressful isn't it. I also graduated in May 2005 and am working in ICU. I'll be off orientation in six weeks and working on days. Hate to tell you that the stress is not behind you just yet. When you start just remember to appretiate your good days when everything is going right. Get to really know nurses that are experienced that will answer your questions and support you. Always remember ASK QUESTIONS and try not to beat yourself up when you do something wrong (trust me I'm learning that too). And remember that every experienced nurse was a new nurse at one time. The have all gone through what your about to go through and they survived. Try to keep a positive attitude. :)

Congrats!!! Spread those wings and fly, find a mentor, learn as much as you can, and watch out for the sharks! (Not likely in the unit your going to) In sept I will have been a nurse for 30 years, and I still remember those exciting early days. I'll bet its the best thing you ever did. Good luck!

I just went up today and did some of my preemployment paperwork. Have to go back friday since the fingerprinting machine was down to get that done and get my name badge. I got my benefits information today. The benefits look awesome! My mom works in a hospital and these benefits blow hers out of the water!

On a side note, while I was there, I ran into a guy I went to High School with...our high school is like 3 hours away from the Cleveland Clinic! He graduates from Kent State in December in Nursing! He was one of those preppy jocks, never imagined him in nursing. Just thought that was cool. We stopped and talked for a few. We were tehre the same time for our physicals and paperwork!

Specializes in med/surg, telemetry, IV therapy, mgmt.

I'm orignally from Cleveland and got my BSN from Cleveland State University. Several of my classmates worked at Cleveland Clinic. Unless things have changed drastically there you are going to get a good orientation and learn a heap of a lot about Bone Marrow transplants. Good luck to you.
