    Ok - odd career path due to drastically different economies in drastically different areas - I am leaving my first nursing job after 9 months to relocate for personal reasons. I did Med/Surg at a big teaching hospital. Hated it, horrible. Hospital politics, hierarchy, bedside nursing, not for me.

    Anyways, got a possible job at a SNF and then a possible clinical research position - the latter is more of a dream job, but it takes me away from my clinical experience/nursing skills that help me get PRN jobs, back in a hospital, etc. SNF sounds pretty terrible but it keeps my experience up, plus I have great hours and the commute is amazing.

    Anyways, thoughts? I'm looking to get out of bedside, so really, I think the research position is great. However, where I'm going, the economy is so terrible that the more rounded experience I have, I feel the better in search of prospects and income.

    Hope this isn't too confusing - any thoughts would be great (gentle, please).

    Research! Run away from bedside now ;-)

    Now seriously, I understand your dilemma, but if you hated bedside in a hospital where you at least have bodies to support you (if not the actual moral, political, or intellectual support), then SNF will demoralize you completely.

    Im sorry you feel that way, thus it sounds like research would be a better fit.
