SHIFT DIFFERENTIAL????

I wouldn't be too happy to learn that either but if it is a good job and the market is tight for new grads in your area you might just want to just go with the flow.

Shift differentials and the time it begins are most likely unique to each company. In the hospital our evening starts at 3pm. And discrepancies do happen, poor communication IMHO, get it in writing so there can't be any further disputes! Congrats and good luck in your new job!

At my job shift diff starts at 7pm. It sucks that they did not give you an accurate quote.

one of the hospitals in my area start shift dif at 11p to save costs. That may be the case here, but I would check into it, just to be sure

Be happy you have a job..there's alot of people that don't...But regardless of that I'd be asking why you're wage is not what they told you before...Sounds like someone might have relayed the wrong information to you..sorry to hear i wouldn't be too happy about it either..best of luck tho!

I agree with above posters. A couple of bucks shouldn't sway your decision. It's not like employers are lining up to hire us.

The hospital I work at has an evening shift diff that starts at 3pm and a night shift diff that starts at 11 pm. There is also an added weekend diff. As someone above said, every facility is different.

I would think they told you that first pay (w/shift diff included) because the person is looking at it like you are- you make X (lets say 25)amount. But in all actuality you make $22- but you are working the in a shift thats included in the $3 diff. Its that way because like right now, you arent making the differential since you are training during the day. If they hired you at $25 base pay, during orientation or if you pick up a morning shift for someone- they would have to pay you $25- get it? not very good at explaining things but tried my best lol
