Question about relocation

by Qiaji

I am also a new grad that is having trouble finding employment. I wish I would have came to this site earlier. I know I am probably not going to find a job where I currently reside (southern Indiana ). I am not sure how to go about relocation. Do I need to get endorsement first? Which sites are good to look for jobs in other states? I would prefer to relocate now if it meant I would have a job. Thanks in advance for your help and suggestions!!

Default Re: Question about relocation
I ended up relocating due to the job market. My only criteria for moving out of state was that I would only go to a Magnet hospital (so that I knew I was moving to a reputable hospital with great nursing training - http://www.nursecredentialing.org/Ma...archmagnet.cfm). I applied to various places, and only after interviewing (and I was pretty sure I'd get the job), did I apply for that state's license. However, it took a while for the license to come through, which ended up delaying my start date. I would say if you know you're going to work in xx state, start the licensing sooner rather than later. But if you're like me, and would go to whatever state based on the hospital that would hire you, I'd wait.
Another relocation hint - once you accept a job, talk with HR (or anyone you meet with) to see if they have temporary housing services. My hospital did, however, I didn't find out about it until 5 days before I started (I was planning on living in a hotel for a while), and only from the Dr. that did my physical. Some systems are so big, that they having housing services (i.e. for transplants, residents, etc.) but not everyone knows about it.
Hope that all helps and best of luck in your job search!
