Nursing pin question!

Nurses New Nurse

Published

Hi everyone,

So my school decided we didn't want to pay the minimum 50 bucks to buy our school's nursing pin so we went rogue and decided to design our own using an outside pin company that would only cost about $7 a pin! We came up with an awesome design and are just trying to figure out what size it should be- we can get it either a 3/4 inch or 1 inch. 1 inch is the size of a quarter and 3/4 inches is the size of a penny.

My question is, what size are your guys' nursing pins? A quarter size seems so big to me to be wearing on a uniform, but penny size looks so small... Help!

BE CAREFUL! We tried to do that...found a company that does them for $2.40/pin BUT the faculty wasn't happy about that and we were not allowed if we wanted to have our Recognition Ceremony (we werent allowed to call it a pinning either). Please double check all your bases before spending money, especially if its class raised money or student group donated money. Our pins were like an inch by 5/8 inch and some had little BSN attachments. Also ask you school if they have any old pins people ordered and never picked up and if they can be donated to your class. Our director had a box of over 50 so all we had to do was pay to get them re-engraved/or put a plate on the back. Hope this info helps!

Ooh, yikes! That got me a little worried... Someone in our class did ask the pinning ceremony coordinator if that would be okay to order our own pins and she said it's fine, but maybe we should ask the school of nursing director too just to be safe! Sorry it didn't work out for you! We are planning and putting on our own ceremony entirely by ourselves so I don't think the school really cares what we do, haha.

Well it worked well for us in the end bc we saved money and used the school's pin. I was the coordinator and we had no help in the planning of the ceremony, we did everything ourselves but if the pin is mean't represent the school you gotta get their input!
