MedsurgeMess,

How terrible! However, I still feel thats more an exceptional situation than commonplace. And I cant understand how someone could be fired or even reprimanded if they arent giving absolute proof of identity, such as their name. If you dont say your name, I really cant see how they can convict someone, so to speak. But to each his own, whoever doesnt want to volunteer the info and is worried, just dont then.

I think when you get into the world of nursing you will definitely understand this better. If you want specific answers to wage and typical shifts offered it might help to check out job postings online to the hospitals in your area that are hiring .

I think you are naïve if you think your employer does not find out what you post online. Many will even do an internet search to see what you may have posted. There are numerous stories of people in many industries that check potential employees. If they see excessive partying or some one talking about playing hooky or talking about stealing from work they are denied interviews. Always assume anything you post on the internet in places like Allnurses or Facebook is now in the public domain.

again and again I will say, IF you post self-identifying information such as your name or KNOWN email address, then yes, it could POSSIBLY become an issue. But how careless to do that in the first place. I know for myself that if I googled my name or email address, you would find zippo! my username is not common knowledge and you wouldnt be able to find out my email address from a post on allnurses.com. As for facebook, most profiles are private, as is mine and so no info would be gotten there either.
