Just took NCLEX

I just took NCLEX. Got 75 questions. Mostly priority, room assignment, DM, disaster drill, which phone call would you return first, teaching. No drug cal, 3 new style they were very easy like how you would admin blood and teach type 2 diabetic. Couple of nutrition, couple of easy meds. No peds, ob, or psych. Just a couple of therapuetic comm. Only a couple I felt I didn't know the rest I felt familiar with. Kaplan help as far as breaking down those questions. If you don't know an answer look for patterns. Hope this helps now the waiting begins. I am kind of worried because I didn't think the test was that bad.

I just took my NCLEX today, as well. It shut off at 75, too. And it sounds just like the test you took. I won't even bother describing it, because it sounds so similar. But did we pass? I've heard it's very unusual for someone to get 75 and fail. I hope that's true. And the worry has grown worse as the day has worn on, just like it sounds with you. The thing is we aren't in control anymore. We have no input and that is troubling. In school or in preparation for the NCLEX we at least had our efforts to distract us and make us feel that we were doing something to help oursleves. Now we no longer have any control--none. We are literally out of the picture.

But just keep telling yourself, "The machine shut off at 75 and it is very rare for someone to fail when the machine shuts off at 75." I sure hope I find out by Friday. Good luck to you, too, Rachel.

I am sure you did your best. I wish that I could say "I know how you feel" But thats not therapeutic communication...lol

I too will be in you shoes in less than 2 weeks!

well, i wish i felt that confident. i took kaplan also. but, i didn't feel like it helped me, and i don't think i passed. the questions i got just seemed to get harder and harder. but then again, isn't the CAT supposed to give you harder questions if you pass, easy ones if you are failing?

i'm itching to call the state board of nursing and start asking questions... then say... oh, i took my nclex yesterday. mind looking to see if i passed?

i just hope that i'm wrong and that i passed. but at least i won't be surprised if i failed.

oh yeah. i didn't get any of the new format ones. that really freaks me out.

btw: the one person I know that failed in the class that graduated the year before me... he was all cocky and saying that he was sure he passed. it shut off at 75. he failed.

I'm sorry, but I don't think it's right to revel in someone's failure. Not at this time of year, in this particular forum when so many are taking NCLEX and hoping to pass while feeling as if they failed. People are cocky because it helps them deal with the anxiety of being unsure. When he failed, he was miserable and his anxiety was justified, and being cocky failed him. I can't take comfort in that.

Even the people in my class who I don't think should be nurses, I don't want them to fail NCLEX. I want them to get into nursing and gradually come to the realization it's not for them and then ease their way out of it.

Just my opinion.

when did i say that i wanted someone to fail? i was just saying that the one person i know that failed from the year before me failed with 75 questions. and he had to retake the test. my point was: just because our tests shut off at 75, doesn't mean that we passed. even if we do feel really confident about it. so there is no sure way to know if you passed or not... and it shutting off at 75 doesn't always mean that you have passed.
