Just took NCLEX!

Nurses New Nurse

Well I took the NCLEX yesterday and this waiting thing is getting old..really fast! I live in Florida and the computer shut off..in the minimum 75 questions..after the computer cut off, my mind was begging for more questions, I feel it didn't give me enough time to prove myself! I had MANY priority/nursing management/call back questions. Only one med math (which was my last question before the blue screen of death), and none regarding lab values or blood related issues. It was crazy..I feel like I guessed on everything except a minute few..the NCLEX studying was harsh, taking the test even worse, but this waiting for the results is killer! It's already been 24 hours and no results anywhere yet... 75 questions.. :( I just want to be an RN already so that I can watch TV without feeling the guilt of "I should be studying again" I want to start enjoying my job and enjoying my spare time! Please help with words of encouragement or similar stories!:uhoh3::uhoh3::uhoh3:

I just took the nclex yesterday and also got tons of callback/prioritizing questions also. Mine shut off after 75 questions too - and I immediately put on my sunglasses after walking out the door and started bahling. I have been reading some threads that say they try to give you questions that you are deemed only 50% "capable" of answering, is this true? If so, I feel a lot better! Unfortunately, my program was very vague on explaining how the exam worked, and until right after I took the exam and was FRANTIC that I'd failed (doing massive research on how the exam was scored), I thought you had to get 76% to pass. I passed with a high GPA in nursing school, and worked my butt off, but have never felt so awful leaving an exam. Hoping to find out tomorrow. I hear ya, I am sick of feeling guilty all the time that I should be studying 24-7!

Hello! I took my test on Aug. 2nd and felt the same way when I was done!! I got 78 questions and not one of them was a math question!! I was terrified that I had failed and was so scared when I left that I couldn't get the locker open to get my purse and keys!! I got my results on Saturday, exactly 48 hours after testing and I passed!! I think its very natural to feel as if you didn't pass. I felt like I knew so much more than what they asked. I had alot of med questions and even more priority and patient teaching ones. Some of the meds I hadn't heard of and totally guessed on!

I sympathize with your agonizing wait. That 48 hours was much worse for me than I had thought it would be. Everyone kept telling me to 'do something to take your mind off of it'!! Yeah, right!! I wanted to tell them where to put their advice!! I found that it helped to picture myself getting positive results... and getting a massage helped too!! So, take a deep breath and think positive thoughts!! The 48 hours will be up soon!!

Thanks for the advice, just got the results this morning and. . .I PASSED! It helped so much to read about how everyone is going through the same thing. I just moved out here to Colorado from Iowa and really miss having all of my nursing classmates to lean on for support. Now to find a job. . .

It is soooo frustrating to me to read post after post after post of you new nurses, waiting in anxiety and trepidation about the results of the NCLEX. You just passed years of exams and clinicals and held up to stress and scrutiny, and graduated from an acredited nursing program!! Now that is the true accomplishment!! I think it STINKS that the NCLEX is such crap shoot that bright and capable students like you don't know whether or not you passed and many of you are convinced that you failed! How is it that they try to trick you with meds you've never heard of? And honestly, this 75-265 question thing is so stupid I can't believe it. I think it is a crappy test. Bright and capable students should be able to sit for an exam that tests their knowledge, certainly, but when you walk out of there you should feel good about what you've accomplished over your nursing career, not living in fear for the time before you hear whether or not you passed!!! I'm probably not making you feel better. But I read these posts a lot and you are not alone. I would like to hear from just one person who left that test and felt good about it and knew they passed! Not many, I'll bet on it.

I agree!! All through school, instructors would tell us that nurses should not be expected to be walking drug books, that you cannot possibly know every drug and every side effect of those drugs... thats just not pracitcal or safe!! Then why is NCLEX asking about obscure drugs and their side effects without even giving you a classification to go on? Who is right, the instructors or the board?

Another upsetting thing to me was the fact that THAT test was going to determine whether or not I would be an RN, and I really felt like I knew so much more than what the test was asking. Frustrating, indeed!!

To me, the nclex seems a test of luck. So far I know 5 friends/classmates who have failed, and 5 who have passed. We all graduated together.

I took the NCLEX on Aug. 8 and don't have result. I'm in California. So, I know I failed already. 6 of my classmates took the test and passed and were able to get result on line within 2 to 7 days. I think I failed.

I took my nclex today and it shut off at 128.Pls any one have an idea what this mean. Am in fear ,so afraid of failing again.Somebody help me pls!!!!:trout:.Seems am the only one in this forum that have scored 128.Most of the drugs there are new to me and there are other questions that i didnt know.

O God!! i dont want to fail for the second time!!
