Johns Hopkins Hospital Nurse Residency 2017

  1. Hi everyone!!
I recently accepted a job at JHH in the nurse residency program on the MICU and I start February 06, 2017. I wanted to reach out and see if anyone else is starting then/ or around that date? Also what units, when your taking NCLEX and how your feeling nearing the end of school?!

Hi RNGrad16, thanks for creating this page! I'm also curious to see if there is anyone else starting around this time. How was your semester? I'm definitely excited to be done! As you know, I'll be in Peds but don't start until June. I'm thinking about taking the NCLEX either this month or next. What about you?

Congrats to you as well, that's awesome! How was the NCLEX for you? I'm getting nervous just thinking about it. Did you use anything to study? I've heard that it is really not as hard as people make it out to be due to the fact that it's an entry level exam.

Honestly I thought it was incredibly easy. I received my ATT on December 21, I originally scheduled the exam for January 5th. Giving myself a few weeks to study. Then I realized that I have spent the last several years preparing for this exam and if I didn't know it now then three weeks would honestly just add more stress and anticipation. So I rescheduled for the next day. Cried and vomited the entire way up there wondering how I could be so stupid to reschedule the most important exam of my life within an hour of going to bed. I got there an hour early. Went over last minute labs and isolation stuff. Then I went in and every question I got seemed easier so I was sure I was failing it. Even though I felt like I was getting them all right. It's definitely a mind (you know what). I took a deep breath before every question and repeated what an instructor told me "keep them alive, keep them breathing". It shut off at 75 I walked out and the front desk person said "congrats nurse" I smiled and then went and threw up. I did the PVT and it worked for me. My license number was active 24 hours later. I believe it is so true that the longer you wait, the harder it is. Believe that you know it. Driving up there I thought "I forgot everything. I know nothing" then when I took it, I couldn't believe how much I remembered. YOU HAVE THIS! Good luck!

i forgot to say: to study I used UWORLD, NCSBN NCLEX review, and La Charity. All helped tremendously. If I had to pick one I couldn't but most helpful to least-> La charity, NCSBN/UWORLD tied ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿผ

I can only imagine how nervous you were but so brave! Your gamble sure did pay off though. And thank you for your kind words, definitely giving me a ray of hope! I am using UWorld and Hurst so study and I really like them both. I can feel myself getting more anxious the longer I wait so I'm hoping to take it sooner than later.

The anxiety was the worst! After taking it, it probably took 2-3 days to go away ha but now it's just awesome! You will do fine! We studyied for years for this exam you have this!!

How long did you study Uworld/NCBSN Review during your last semester; looking at cost to order?

I will graduate in May (New Orleans) and my univ requires we do Saunders NCLEX comprensive review. My plan is to relocate to Atlanta.
