is it worth to stay here in my country?...

Nurses New Nurse

It is a fact--nursing is the #1 course in the Philippines...proof? 1.) The only field that has huge number of examines- November 2008 figure reaches to 88,750 examinees 2.) Some of those who attained the highest profession give up their career and enrolled into nursing like lawyers, doctors... as it is believed there is great money on this profession -if could work abroad. The scary figure on this Profession is increasing each year from the graduates and those unemployed. The health care industry may have huge budget allocation but corruption is mainly creating negative impact to the health care system, thus everyone is affected. And for the newly licensed graduates the act of sacrifice is being demonstrated through "volunteerism" , it may not justifiable as at times this status is being abused by some superiors but this is the reality a newly Nurse must face these days...

Well your english is a tad broken.....but here is what I would say:

I have no idea what your options are in the Phillipines. I don't know how I would feel or what I would think if I were in your shoes. What I will point out is my humble opinion that things are about to change. The economy is tanking here in the US. Prior to that, the government and hospitals screamed about the nursing shortage. This opened the door for nurses from the Phillipines to come here and get jobs.

The issue is that the hospitals have hiring freezes right now. US citizen graduate nurses are having trouble finding jobs. Some nurses have been laid off.

In this country, the law is we can bring in foreign nurses as longs as (1) we do not cost a US nurse his/her job in the process and (2) we dont pay the foreign nurse less than we would pay the US nurse.

I am not sure this would be the time to leave your country based on this. I would keep my eyes open for future opportunities.

I'm a US citizen studying nursing. And I'm graduating this March 2009. In my opinion its NOT worth staying in the PI because there's hardly anymore jobs for nurses or any other course. After graduation you'll just volunteer at the hospital. You even have to pay them so you can volunteer!!!! Most of the people here are going to college so they can get a job abroad. Not to stay here but to other countries to support themselves and their families.
