Interview went great! Now for the thank you note...any advice?

Nurses New Nurse

Published

I had my first nursing interview today for a nurse graduate position and I think it went really well! I have another one tomorrow for another unit in the hospital and I am very excited about both of these job opportunities. I have always read/heard that it is appropriate to send a thank you note to the interviewer. I am a little pressed for time so I would like to do it via email rather than hand written. I also realized I forgot to give her my letter of recommendation in my interview. Would it be unnecessary to attach this to my thank you email? I do not know if this would be appropriate or not. I also forgot to give her a list of my references (I guess I was just too excited that it went well so this all slipped my mind). They already have references from my application but I would have liked to include the list as it had more references that they could contact.

Any advice on this thank you email? Can I include these documents? What kinds of things could I say other than thanking her for taking the time to interview me/consider me, etc...

THANK YOU! :)

I would make it short and sweet. I believe the thank you note should be just that, not trying to sell yourself all over again. That should have happened in the interview! Nurse managers are typically very busy people. I think the obvious, "thank you for taking the time to interview me for the RN position....blah blah blah." Then maybe a sentence about something you talked about in the interview. Maybe complimenting them on how they value teamwork or that you could really see yourself working on this unit because _______ and ________. I think it is perfectly appropriate to attach those documents to the email.
