2.8 miles! Yeah, I'm a lucky duck. I work where I want and its' close to home. But it all depends on where you wantto be. Sometimes closer isn't better.

I am a new grad. I work in Labor and Delivery. I live 1.13 miles from work according to mapquest. I worked my butt off and did extra work in school, I am still very fortunate and grateful.

About 2 miles, 3 stop lights. I get there in about 6 minutes. Good thing because I am too tired to drive far after a shift!

Personally, I think you should stay at least two years. These people gave you a chance and oriented you, they deserve some consideration. I hear you about the commute, though. My commute is either 19 miles (on mostly Interstate and then through the city) or 7 miles (on surface streets with 42-47 stoplights, depending upon which surface streets I take). It takes 40-60 minutes depending upon traffic, and then another ten minutes to walk into the building from where I have to park. I've been here five years, and I routinely think about getting a job closer to home . . . but the pay, benefits and educational opportunities are great and I'm vested in the retirement plan now.

I drive an hour and twenty minutes one way. There were not any positions for new grads at any of the hospitals that I did clinicals at. The hospital in the town nearby was hiring, but it was eight hour days, five days a week, and the pay was low. I chose this other hospital because the pay was good and it was on a telemetry/progressive care unit. Perfect for someone interested in ICU one day.

I know that i have posted to this type of ? before. I know that i said i work about 40 min away, i dont mind the drive, wind down from work, not a bad drive in. but ya know, a while now after working there, combined with driving there for school those yrs. I AM SICK OF IT. simply put. i just dont want to do it anymore. i have found another job, and hopefully, with all my hopes and dreams and might i may have a chance at it. some ppl can do the drive forever and not mind at all, but i dont think i can stand it anymore.

I am about 8 - 9 miles away from my job depending on which route I take. It takes me about 20 minutes to get there with traffic.

I live 2.3 miles from my hospital, and it takes me about 5 minutes. I love the commute!! It sure beats the 39 or 50 minute commute (we were at a couple of different hospitals) I had during clinicals in nursing school. After clinicals, at certain points, I would hit traffic on the way home and also get sleepy during that long drive - I'm thankful I don't have to worry about that now.
