Hospital Norms?

Updated Dec 01, 2008 at 12:40 AM by Angie O'Plasty, RN

Hello, i have been a lpn for 18 months. Lpn have the same work load as rn with a just a few difference (blood, mediport etc)
my work load is 6-7 on a neuro floor so most pt are sx, ams, and cva. Our cmt are allways pulled to sit with the ams pt 1:1
so you are left with all the care- meds, baths, glucs, v/s q4 whatever else is needed of course. I take pride in being a good nurse and it is important to go the extra mile for my patient, so im not a lazy nurse. But with this work load it nuts, im always the last to leave work for my shift (1 1/2 hr later) . I was thinking about changing hospitals maybe to a hospital that cares about their patients and nurses is that too much to ask? Are all hospitals like this?
