Good time to advance on?

So I am gaining some good experience in my new months as a nurse in a sub-acute floor and even get to float to more acute areas sometimes. However I see a high turnover rate on my floor and without going in to details. Basically training is needed and it is becoming a lot of fake it til you make it because one shift seems to be neglected from training then the other so to speak. Well I am not a complainer and I just learn to educate myself when I can and even I have caught patients who spiral out of whack and it was a good rush to know what I was doing and to be on scene is amazing to me.

Well I have always had a passion for the ER. In my previous field I was able to see it all in action which is kinda why I came to nursing besides my personality to care for others. Well I don't want to burn bridges but I would like to somehow seek ways to get to the ER level. I have heard your golden year is what you should have and I am trying to stick it out. I also feel though my floor experience type is not "impressionable" for the ER as in this floor doesn't deal with direct critical patients. Which is kinda true but lately with change it has turned acute med surg like.

I am wondering if I should see if I can shadow the ER but without busting out my interest that my unit doesn't really fit me. I am fortunate by all means to learn the basics and have this career and learn all I can but I will be eligible for transfer soon but I feel it is too soon to jump to another specialty without it looking bad? Yet I would like a taste of it to see if this was the area I'd like to go too. Any personal experience or opinions would be appreciated!
