Ok. A few days before my big move to start my new job, I got sick. It was so bad that I went to see the doc for antibiotics and tylenol 3 for pain control. I found myself assessing my own pain on the pain scale and determined that I needed to call the doc about something stronger then extra strength tylenol. Then when I got the tylenol 3, I found myself periodically counting the pills just as you would in a hospital. I am now feeling much better and settled into my new apartment on the opposite side of the state. I also start my new job tomorrow. Does anyone else find themselves using those nursing procedures we learned in school such as pain assessment or narcotics counting? You can call me a little obsessive if you want. Of course, I am starting to think that all nursing students are raised to be a bit obsessive.

After I had surgery and was on quite a few meds, I made up MARS and posted them on the fridge. I signed them off after I would take the dose.

I always relate my pain 0-10 when talking to a Dr.

I have taught my family and friends the 0-10 pain scale and they use it when calling me for advice.
