Difficult time Finding a Job

by happyv

I am having a very difficult time finding a job. I have been looking for a RN position for about a month and have heard nothing from recruiters. I currently live in NYC and did not know it was going to be this hard to get a job. Is there anyone out there that can help.

Dear Happyv,

Keep your chin up. Have you checked in with any agencies to see if they could place you in some of the upcoming flu shot clinics? I know it's not a full-time job, but it's a way of staying connected while you look. The job market/economy is so precarious right now. I can relate to your situation. Next week I'm going to take an ACLS certification course just to add to my qualifications. I'm hoping that the little things that I do in the interim will make a difference down the road.

In the meantime, hang in there.

Sincerely,
eastbayrn

You're not the only one out there. There are plenty of new grads that cannot find jobs. Be persistent and make sure you have the best cover letter, resume, and interview you can

I understand what you're going through. But believe me, you are not the only one. Check out the New York region section on this board, or other past posts about new grads having difficulty finding jobs in the NYC city area. It's mostly the economy, and you will find posts with new grads looking for several months and still haven't found a job. It's also very competitive in NYC, and some hospitals don't even have many new grad positions. Keep trying though, that's what alot of us have been doing.

I definitely can relate, it took me a good while after graduating to get a call back. I just started my first nursing job in long term care. It isn't where I want to be, but it was basically all I could find. I'm from Ohio and the job market here sucks.
