Can I do part time orientation as a new nurse?

I'm currently an LPN student and will be graduating in a few weeks. I plan to start going to back school in the Fall semester (which starts in August). So that only gives me a little less than 2 months to study for and take the NCLEX. If I pass the NCLEX and some miracle enables me to find a job before school starts, would I be able to do my orientation part time, as a part time nurse on the weekends? I know it sounds like a dumb question, but I've never done this before nor do I know anyone personally who could tell me about it. From what you've seen or experienced, will anyone hiring me do to orientation part time? If not, and I have to do it full time, can I do it during the night shifts?

If your position is PT you can probably orient PT, but if it's FT, you will be expected to be there 36 or 40 hours per week.

if it's FT, you will probably be expected to orient through all the shifts.

Most anything's possible, but it would be up to the individual facility. Everyplace I've ever worked, the orientation schedule was full-time, M-F (nothing on the weekends) and even people who were being hired into part-time or prn positions were still expected to attend orientation full-time.

But, again, that doesn't mean it isn't possible to find some place that does things differently.

I'm sure it varies but I'm a new grad RN who's stating a 0.5 part time position in a hospital but my 3 month orientation is three 12s a week days compared to the 8s on PMs(2nd shift) that I'll be working after that. I didn't get a choice they do all orientation on days and close to full time to get you up to speed ASAP. Also my first two weeks are computer and facility orientation and it's 830-4 five days a week.
