Awful day!

I don't know why I thought I received a degree and license in a respected profession? The reality shock is officially hear and I realize that if anything comes up "Blame the Nurse!" is a common attitude. How I got yelled at by an MD for equipment malfunctioning is beyond me. Can I go yell at him for leaving the room with the bed in high position? Ugh. I'm so tired and over the word "nurse"

FLAG ON THE PLAY!!! PERSONAL FOUL!!

Wouldn't it be great if we had better rules for patient care? I get some giggles from thinking about how great it would be if we had referees available to enforce rules. Maybe we could just issue whistles to charge nurses??

Seriously, I am sure we all understand your frustration - we've all been there. We get blamed for everything - by everyone. Full trashcan? Cold meal? No salt diet? Can't get discharged by noon like the Dr 'promised' (because there is no order yet)? No movie channels on the TV? BLAME THE NURSE No wonder we have so many problems with Press-Ganey (and other customer surveys)... from a patient's point of view, any of those items are caused by bad nursing care.

Maybe we need some 'disclaimer' notices in each room letting patients know who is responsible for what.
