Hi everyone. I would sincerely appreciate any information you could provide!

I have a family friend who wants to come to America. He is a nurse in India. He has his B.Sc in Nursing (four year nursing degree, equivalent to a BSN).

What are the steps he should take to coming here? I have very little information so thought I'd come here to figure things out!

I know he would have to take the CGFNS (commision on graduates of foreign nursing schools) test. Would he still have to take the NCLEX? And while perusing the boards this term of "retrogression" keeps coming up. What is that about?

Any information would be greatly appreciated!
thanks!

Is it taking much longer this time due to the recession or any other reason for the delay? Also they said, QNC,NBV are more strict now with regard to the assessment process...Anyone who can shed light on this? Thanks :loveya:

Hi
I am currently endorsing my WA license to OK. As you know I have to deal with CGFNS.I pass my nclex rn 5yr ago,do not have CGFNS CP. And CGFNS has all my documents(transcript, the nsg and science course by course ect). So Oklahoma require the nursing and science course by course and transcript directly from CGFNS.
How do I do? I read CES report in cgfns web site, but
its too expensive $328 to have CES report and I already submitted all these papers to CGFNS in 2003
when I apply to my original license (NY). The cgfns has all my information.
Yesterday I talk to OK board of nsg explaning all this situation. They need to receive only copy of these requirement.
I only need copy from cgfns to OK board of nsg. Do I need to still spend $328 to do CES report? I will contact CGFNS but you know how difficult to deal with them.. I had bad experience with cgfns service in the past...

;)Anyone know about this endorsement processing?

I'm a 40 year old relatively new nurse here in America. I have 16 months experience at this point...

I'm a 40 year old relatively new nurse here in America. I have 16 months experience at this point on a medical/surgical floor with solid organ transplant focus (6 months) and a cardiopulmonary stepdown unit (10 months) with telemetry and cardiac focus. I have been reading about the things they are looking for when deciding if a person can write the exam or has to do SEC. When people say "medical, surgical, psych, obstetrics and pediatrics", they are just referring to whether those things were covered in their education, correct? And whether it was covered as well as it is in Canadian schools, right? We definitely had components in all of these areas, moreso in med/surg. The psych, obstetric and pediatrics were all 5 week clinical sessions along with classwork. Since I have not worked as a nurse in any of those last three fields, and do not wish to, I would find it odd that I might be assessed as to my competency in those areas.

Also, we are not planning to move for another three or four years. I'm getting ready to possibly move into a new job focusing on wound care in a clinic, since this interests me greatly. I wonder how that will figure into everything...med/surg?

I'm considering completing my bachelor degree as well. I figure this can only help me as it will be more education and will look even better on my application. Are there any other things I might be able to do to "spruce up" my application so I won't have to do SEC. We are looking at the Fredericton, NB area for relocating. I read their School of Nursing website, and it didn't say anything about SEC. It said that as long as I had so many hours of work in North America (over 1100 or something like that) within the last five years, then I could apply.

Thanks for any advice or thoughts you can give me on this...do they have wound care clinics in Canada? Do they make the same as other RN's?

I passed the California Nclex last October 2008, i took the exam here in my country, I received mail coming from the California BON asking for my SSN# and said that i should give them my SSN# within 3 years but in case i won't be able to, my application would be considered abandoned and my files will be destroyed.

It's been a year now and i worry that i won't be able to go to California to get my SSN#, and claim my license.

Does this mean that i have to take the California Nclex again, if ever i won't be able to give them my SSN# within the 3 years?

Thank you in a advance.

CONGRATULATIONS to all those who passed the CRNE exams and the best of Luck to those who will still be taking it. I am new to this post, actually this is my first time to ask in this forum.. ( I hope somebody will help me pLLLSS). My question is:

1. What if I had graduated five yrs ago ( Oct, 2005 ) BUT STILL with no current nursing experience yet till this time, will they deny my application for CRNE supposed I apply nxt yr? ( I only have 3 months of Dialysis Training EXP)

2. I am a second courser so my BSN schooling is from March,2003 - Oct. 2005 only, does it alone does not qualify me to sit for the exam?

3. I am a PR/Immigrant visa holder now, since my husband got approved under the skilled visa, will it ever have an impact to my CRNE application?

4. Is the working experience needed in the requirement, a PAID working EXP? or even staff generalist nurse volunteer in a secondary hosp would count? ( since I plan to do some volunteer work early next year )

PLEASE HELP ME ON THIS, since even if we have Visa on hand but with no work waiting for us in Canada, I would rather stay here in the Philippines and hopefully get some exp paid or unpaid>>

Thank you!! More power to all of you nurses helping us "beginners".
