Well i passed my first module of A& P but i'm not very excited about it. At this point i'm actually very confused on what to do as far as studying for the next part. I failed my final exam which was 40% of my grade:cry: Whats frustrating is that i really studied hard for this exam!!! I studied overall four extra hours a day in addition to class and still bombed out. The only thing that keep me from failing the course is the fact that i already had a '"A" average prior to the final exam so it average me out to a high "C" or 78. I passed all of my quizzes with flying colors but my teachers unit exams i have never scored higher than a C. It bothers me because what do i do next to try to do better this next module? My boyfriend says i should be thankful considering that there were a few who didn't pass but i can't help it. If i read, take notes, study the teachers powerpoint lectures, and try to test myself, and still score low- what other methods of study can i use to help me do better?????

uhhhh, but is it normal to feel like you didn't learn enough? Like there's so much more that needs to be mastered...one of my concerns is not being exposed to the various hands-on skills in nursing such as continous bladder irrigations, trache suctioning, etc. Just wondering....

Now on to studying and passing the NCLEX-PN...yeah!! Hurry, someone play a song 'cause I feel like dancin'!

Thanks everyone here on this board who encouraged me and allowed me to vent when the pressure was intense. God bless all of you!

A very grateful graduate in Southern CA :D

Nursing school with a physical problem??

Hi! I was just wondering if anyone has been in a situation like this, or what they think. 2 years ago I started an LPN program, I was doing great but I dropped right before clinicals because I was too afraid that I wouldn't be able to physically do it. See, I have had problems with muscle strength in my legs, I can walk fine and stand for long periods, the only real physical problem is that I can not life very heavy objects from the ground or squat (because I can't get back up), at the time I didn't let anyone know about my problem because I was embarresed. I have been seeing specialists and so far the only thing they have found is that My vitamin D was pretty much non existant, so they have me on pills to replenish it. Since losing some weight and taking the vitamin D for a month I am starting to feel stronger. During a muscle biopsy I was talking to the RN and she said I should ask my nursing school if they can help me with things like transfers so I can get through school and then if my problem cannot be fixed I could work in a doctors office. My question is, do you think my nursing school would do this? I am able to adjust and reposition patients in bed, there is nothing wrong with my back and upper body strength. I think I will call the school today because they need to know by the 20th if I am attending or not. Thanks in advance for any input!

I am afraid I may not pass my first semester of LPN school because I am failing pharmacology and I cried during my foley checkoff. I am a relatively good student, but lately I am overly emotional and I haven't been concentrating as much as I was when school first started. I am almost to the point where I want to give up. I was so excited to be accepted into this program and how being in nursing would impact my life and my family life. But now, I am chickening out. I would like some encouragement or advice on how to stay focused when you are so overwhelmed and afraid of failing checkoffs.

I heard that if you go to a private school for LVN
and later decide to become a RN that the credits aren't transferable.

Is there anyway for people who attended private schools to have that
LVN-RN or do they have to go over with schooling?

I read many threads that new LVN's can't get jobs, and I'm scared
and unsure what to do.
I'm 19 with a baby and what is your advice for me
as for schooling?

Just wondering. I'm so confused.

I noticed many LVN's in the long run want to become RN's...
So... any advice would be GREATLY APPRECIATED.
I just don't want to be stuck in the long run.
Should I just go to Community college?

I've been looking around at LVN schools for some time now and this is a school that's closest in location to me. Does anyone have any experience or know anything about this school? I just want to get a heads-up before I go in and start asking questions about tuition and requirements.

I have one additional question as well: my friend is also looking to get into the nursing field (she's tired of restaurant work). One problem: she isn't a legal resident of the United States. Is being a legal resident of the United States a prerequisite for getting into this school, or any vocational nursing school for that matter?

I'm starting soon like around March, but they don't give much information on the class. I was told it's Mon-Fri from 8 am-2pm and that was about it lol. Is it really hard? After graduating high school I took a break so I have no college courses :imbar Will that affect me much? Please share as much info as you can :D Thanks so much!

:twocents: FYI: you know how they tell us that they can take 6-8 weeks to make decisions on acceptance into the LPN program...well, I called the north campus nursing department last week and was told that the acceptance packets / denial letters for the LPN program will not go out until after the FULL 8 weeks...she specifically said that they won't go out until after Thanksgiving. ...so, I'm guessing we should get them around the last week in November, first week in December-ish?

I turned in my admissions packet way back in early August, so this wait has already been unbearable!:hdvwl:

Good luck to everyone that applied! I will be checking my mail daily and I'll make an entry on this website as soon as I get a Yea or Nea.;)
