Just wanted feedback from others: I currently have one more pre-req. and a couple of placement tests to complete before I can apply for adv. plcmt to the nursing program. I'm unsure of what the wait time will be (The wait for general students is approx. 12-24 months I'm told...Not sure about whether it is less for adv. plcmt.). To make a long story short, I desperately want to move out-of-state and return home. My hubby and I have a young child and I have a good support system (and babysitters :D)there...not so much here.

If I were to move back, of course, I would likely have additional classes to take before I could get adv. plcmt. there, and another wait before starting the program. My mind tells me to just stick it out where I am and work on finding childcare for the nursing program...my heart is @ home though. Deep down, I'm sure that it is better to finish my schooling now. Just want some reinforcement from others who understand what I'm going through.

Hey everyone :) I'm hoping someone could help me out with a question I have about Helene Fuld...

Hey everyone :) I'm hoping someone could help me out with a question I have about Helene Fuld Nursing School. I went to Eastern Suffolk BOCES - I started in high school and finished the program last March. I tested and got my LPN license in August, I didn't start looking for a job right away because I was interested in starting school to get my RN license as soon as possible. I've been looking for a very long time and it's been so much harder to find an LPN to RN program than I thought it would be. I've found tons of them in all different states - but when I've been calling them they keep asking me about the credits I have and I'm not sure I even have credits through BOCES......so they are telling me I will pretty much just have to start over again and enter a 4 year RN program :( So now I am looking at Helene Fuld, it seems to be the only school that will accept the credits so I feel like it might be a good idea since the program is only 18 months. However, I was just on their website and it said that their graduates are awarded with an Associates degree in Applied Science. . . .but I would need to go on for my Bachelor's degree after that, so my question is - for those who have completed this program or looked into it - once I finish this program and have my Associate's, will another college accept these credits from Helene Fuld and let me go on for my Bachelor's? I'm skeptical about all these programs because I feel like I may have spent a year and a half getting my LPN license and now I might not be able to find a program to go to for my RN :(

and as far as online programs, I was really trying to stay away from them - I like being in a classroom setting.
Thanks for trying to help me :) Amy

Hello everyone!

Hello everyone!

I am currently a 24yr/f LPN working for a year now on a surgery unit @ my nearby hospital here in Edmonton, Alberta. I completed the 2yr diploma program through NorQuest College and graduated in September of '08. My current dilemma is that I am very eager to continue my education process to become a RN BUT ...I do not want to go back to school here in Alberta. I have lived here my entire life and have been impatiently longing for a big change/move! So after my dream to go to school in Australia was shattered (approx $55,000 for 3 yrs tuition for LPN-RN bridging!), ive decided i want to move to British Columbia.

So my question for you helpful students and nurses out there is if you know any recognized LPN-BSN in class bridging schools offered anywhere in B.C.? Preferably 2yrs or less and if not 3yrs? websites/links?Program info? Also if anyone has attended Vancouver Community College? I have browsed the web for schools but what love to get some help, advice or guidance on continuing my nursing journey in British Columbia.
