(Edit) I posted this in the CNA section and have not had any replies in days so I'm going to try my luck here.

Hi folks, my wife and I are planning to relocate to Northeastern PA within the next year. I have already contacted Pearson Vue about the certification transfer. We are curious about the different opportunities, pay, and insight to where are the better places to work. I know it's a loaded question....sorry.
Two places we are looking into are Mercy Hospital & Allied Services.

Thank you all very much in advance for your responses! :wavey:

My husband is possibly being transferred to Philadelphia in the near future and I was just looking for some information on hospitals out that way. I currently work at a small community hospital in the suburbs of Pittsburgh and I would like to stay in that sort of environment. I don't think I would like to work at a huge metropolitan medical center. I'm also going to do some internet research about the area, but I was hoping for some insider information about hospitals or medical centers and job availability out that way. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

There are some vague references about ERs being busy on news. They do not address whether these ERs are seeing routine cases or if a significant number of young people are being admitted, perhaps even intubated or ECMO. Also, not hearing about whether a lot of expectant moms are having problems. I suspect that "busy" word covers a LOT. The deaths they are reporting happened last month. Again just guessing, that some bad things are happening right now during these last days of October.

In brief: Laurel Crest nurses picket at courthouse
The Tribune-Democrat
EBENSBURG — About 40 union nurses from Laurel Crest and their supporters picketed at the courthouse Friday and attended the Cambria County commissioners meeting to ask that the county honor retirement benefits, including medical coverage, after the county nursing home is sold.

The commissioners said that the county will meet its legal commitments, including retirement benefits and any medical coverage for eligible employees under county policies that includes years of service and age requirements.

The registered nurses and licensed practical nurses are members of Service Employees International Union District 1199P.

The 370-bed nursing home is being sold to Grane Healthcare for $14.25 million, with ownership scheduled to change at 12:01 a.m. Jan. 1.

SEIU’s contract with the county will expire Dec. 31, and union said it hopes that Grane will agree with it.
