PLEASE help!

I am wondering if any hospitals in oregon offer to pay off or aid their nurses in paying off student loans. I will be a nursing student in January at University of Portland and if I just take out student loans, I'll be in debt about $100,000 when I am done. This is a little bit terrifying.

I am looking into joining ROTC because they will pay for everything if I sign a four year contract with the military. I would rather not do this (God bless those who do) and have some kind of help with my future employer (i.e. a hospital) to pay off my enormous amount in student loans.

Before I sign a contract with the ROTC, I'd like to have any information on hospitals helping their employees with their student loans.

Thanks so much for your help!!!

Hello-
I graduated with a BSN and passed boards in June- have applied to I would have to say at least a hundred jobs- LTC, Skilled Nursing Facilites, Hospitals, Clinics, etc- and nothing. I had an interview for the Salem ICU internship but received news it had been canceled. Every position that I have applied for I have been passed up for someone who is more qualified, ie not a new graduate. Due to family circumstances I cannot relocate. Are there any other new grads out there also struggling? Any advice/suggestions would greatly be appreciated.

Hello everyone,

I'm looking for some opinions based on sound experience in the nursing community. I was going to apply to a few nursing programs this Fall for the following year, but recently had a conversation with an admissions advisor at what will remain an “unnamed” school. In any case, they said that in spite of the 14 As and 1 B I have completed for the prereq courses that I stand a snowball's chance in Hell of getting into a nursing program because I have absolutely no medical experience; for instance, volunteering, pushing a broom in a hospital, working as a “CNA”, a receptionist, etc. They suggested I get a “CNA” and go in the trenches for a year, then apply. So....my questions.

Do you think this person is correct in light of the overwhelming amount of applicants for nursing programs?

I've read nothing but horror stories about CNA jobs. Duties entail the worst of the worst of the worst. Moreover, pay is not a living wage.

Thanks,
K

I graduated in June from PCC. I haven't gotten a job, its killing me. I am going to have to start paying student loans, so I'm thinking about, sigh, going to Linfield for my BSN. Is it worth it?? Can any current RN-BSN online students tell me what its like and how much study time it takes?

Hello,

I was wanting some honest opinions on the best places to work as a CNA in Oregon. I have noticed that Marquis Care pays for potential CNA's to become trained at their facility if you work for them for 6 months after training, but is it a good place to work????
