I am having a hard time finding a job on a med surg floor or any unit for that matter. I graduated with a BSN in Dec 07 i applied to all the major hospitals in the traingle area and all of them gave me the same story sorry you dont have any medical experience so I assumed they meant as a cna. So I took a job at Dorothea Dix worked on the geriatric unit now I work on the medical unit. I still get the same story no experience. I try to apply for new grad positions that require no expereience but they dont want to even give me an interview. Can anyone give me any advice I am eager to learn more I just need the chance to.

I am a 1st semester nursing student and a CNA. I interviewed for a position on a ONC unit but didn't get good feedback during the interview and was asked if I would be interested in interviewing on the Burn center and pulm/infectious disease unit. I have never been on either of these units, so I don't know what to expect. Can someone tell me the pros and cons of each unit? I would like to have a leg-up before the interview.

Thanks :heartbeat

I am in my first semester of this "new" concept based curriculum that the NCBON is implementing across the state. My instructors are running around like chickens with their heads cut off and that this concept based thing is sooooo different that whatever was taught before. My fellow students and I have had just about enough of this guinea pig stuff. If the whole state has to be changed why isn't everyone playing in the same sandbox instead of attempting to recreate the wheel. I just wanted to get thoughts from anyone who has experienced it or taught it.:spin:

I'm thinking about taking an Anatomy & Physiology II (A&P2) course that is online for the lecture part and in person for the lab. So, I consider it a "hybrid". Does anyone recommend against taking A&P2 in this format? Is it better to be in the instructor's face for the lecture AND lab? My thought is that this will probably be a fine format. I've completed many online courses in the past but had an experience with a math course that made me feel like math classes are just not cut out for online format (or, at least the one I took).

Hello,

I was just informed by my school's affiliated hospital (CHS systems) that "due to limited number of opportunities, we are unable to pursue every candidate for employment that applies with us." I'm graduating in December and currently in my preceptorship in CCU. I absolutely LOVE it. However, because the letter is from the HR department, I will not be able to interview with CHS systems unless I'm specifically asked for through HR by a Unit or Hiring Manager. I'm also looking at neighboring hospitals here in Charlotte but I'm not sure they are hiring new grads at this time.

If any unit managers would be willing to take a look at my resume, please contact me. I will be taking my NCLEX-RN in January. I'm the SGA treasurer, on the Planetree liason committee at school, and a local chapter member of APHON. Prior to MSON I had a GPA of 3.4 and my MSON GPA is 2.75 (80-85% =C, 86-91%=B, 92-100%=A). My cumulative is above 3.0. I've scored a Level 2 on all my ATI's and I scored a level 3 on Maternity. I'm looking to work day, evening, or swing, Full time (I may work nights if temporary). My school's last semester had a 100% first time pass rate on the NCLEX which you can confirm directly with the school.

If you would consider reviewing my resume, please send me a message and I will send you my personal info (name, number, email, and resume). Any help in aquiring a position or a contact would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,
Abishag

Hi, I'm totally new here, but I've been reading all these threads and I have a question about Watts. I'm going to the Information Session on Monday (anyone else?) but I keep wondering how they decide who to admit. I have no health care experience, I'm 33, I've been out of school for 15 years.... I don't sound like a good candidate to myself, nevermind an admissions counselor. Is it primarily based on test scores?

I've wanted to become a nurse for years, but our situation was never right for me to go back to school. I'm sort of pinning all my hopes on Watts right now.
