Hi everyone,

Hi everyone,

I am a registered NICU nurse in Toronto, Canada and have been practicing in nursing now for 3 and a half years (2 years and 9 months in Level 3 NICU). i will be moving to New Jersey next fall and am wondering what my salary will be like. Does nursing in the States have a pay scale? Here in Toronto, we have the Collage of Nurse who makes up a contract every year and decide our pay scale. Each year that you have been in nursing, your pay increases regardless of what department you work in as a nurse in the hospital. In other words, emergency room nurses don get paid more than say a med surg nurse. For canadian nurses, it takes about 8 years to reach the top of teh pay scale which is at the moment about 38 dollars and then your next increase is when you haev been in nursing for 25. The contract is renewed every year, and i find that our pay scale is improving. When i started nursing in 2006 I started off with 23 dollars starting (less than 1 yr)... now, that it is 27 dollars starting. Does anyone know how nurses pay is in New jersey? Also, Will the years of experience I have had as a nurse here reflect my starting pay there ..if you have a pay scale there as well?

Thanks in advance

Hi:

I'm reposting this thread in here as I didn't get any responses in the "Pre-Nursing" forum.

I've been searching the threads, but noticed I haven't seen any on UMDNJ (University of Medicine Dentistry of NJ) students or hopefuls. I plan to apply for the Fall 2010 Accelerated Nursing program and wanted to know if there are any around here who are either planning to apply to the school or have already started taking their nursing classes at the college.

If you are already fully fledged into their nursing program, how's the experience at the college? Any advice would be great.

Thanks.

Hey everyone! Here's the story! I started my pre-reqs in September of 2008. I completed everything in June of 2009. I received a letter in the mail stating that all 3 major requirements are completed and I'm guessing my date of completion is October 1, 2009. Of course I was not accepted into the Fall 2009 or Spring 2010 traditional programs. I'm hoping by Fall of 2010 I will finally get that great letter. Has anyone been accepted into Spring of 2010 and what was your completion date? What was your average wait of time AFTER you completed the pre-reqs?

I am leaning towards a MA course.
I am a displaced worker so I think, unemployment may help me with the tuition.
I just got off the phone with Anthem Institute and the offer a MA course.

It did take a while for me to get out of the admission rep's mouth what the hours are.
It appears they have fleible hours vs firm hours.

I was hoping someone has attended this school and could give me a review. I know most tech schools aren't that
**nifty**
I have also interviewed with Lincoln Tech in Mt. Laurel.

Thanks in advance.
