I don't understand what just happened. After I interviewed, I was told by an HR person at Brigham and Women's they were going to offer me a job as an RN. So, I waited patiently and stayed in contact, but they seemed to be taking more time than usual and I couldn't understand why. Until today, the HR person called and said that they were no longer going to offer me the job. Is this common practice in the US? I think it was totally unprofessional and has caused me weeks of stress.

How can the department say we are getting things together to offer you the job and the next minute change their mind? I am getting so frustrated with the job market here that I am ready to leave and go back to Canada. I am an experience nurse and I feel like my skills are being wasted! I even turned down another interview because I thought I had this job. How can they play with peoples lives like this!

Anybody else have stories like this?

I am an RN planning to return to my hometown of Falmouth to "settle down" with my husband. I have a bachelor's degree in Psychology and a Bachelor's degree in Nursing. I am currently finishing a MSN in Nursing Education. I became an RN one year ago and have been working as a Psychiatric RN at a Psych hospital just North of Boston. I am currently making $29/hr + diff.
I am having difficulty finding out what sort of pay cut I am looking at when we move back to the Cape. I understand that I probably will not make as much $$ but cannot find info on starting RN salaries on the Cape and in Plymouth.
Does anyone know starting salaries at CC, Falmouth, and Plymouth hospitals?

Thanks so much!

I love what i do and enjoy it but I think cna's deserve to get paid fot all the work they do. I know of one agency that pays their cna's $17 an hour but they are not hiring right now. Anyone know of any other agencies, hospitals, homes, etc. that pay good???

TO OTHER PCA'S, CNA'S, HHA'S: WHAT IS THE AVERAGE PAY YOU GET OUT THERE AND WHAT IND OF FACILITY TO YOU WORK IN?

Anyone gone here, know more about their rn to bsn program? Sounds good but I have not heard anyone say they have gone through the program. I am interested in it mainly because you can complete it in 16 months, and start in the summer, the college does not require a ton of random pre-req classess...it costs a bit more than I would prefer and is about an hour from me but if the school is good and the program is organized it would be worth it to me. TIA!!!

Currently in the third semester (pediatrics/maternity), the weekend and day programs are having very high failure rates on exams. On the midterm, as high as 75 - 85% have flunked the exam. Is this normal for third semester? What is the attrition rate for third semester typically? Thanks for your help.
