I found out last night that Uniform House gives a 10% discount to nursing students. The price on their stethoscopes is steep but they have competitive prices on shoes plus they'll order shoes if not in stock with no shipping charge. They are on the web if you want more info. I think there are two stores, one in Carmel and one downtown. I went to the one downtown last night. It's on Capital just south of 20th street on the left side of the road across from Methodist hospital.

Advantages of CNA over SNE or visa versa?

For those of you who have experience as both a CNA and SNE or for those of you who oversee/work...

For those of you who have experience as both a CNA and SNE or for those of you who oversee/work with either position in a hospital setting, is there any advantage to being a CNA over a SNE or visa versa? After my first semester of clinicals, I want to apply for either a CNA or SNE position but was wondering if one position provides better experience, benefits, flexibility, pay, etc., over the other. (note that at the school I'm attending, I will be qualified to get a CNA certificate after the first semester of clinicals)
Any input you have is greatly appreciated!

I know that no nursing schools are easy to get into but I was wondering how hard it is to get into Indiana wesleyan for their accelerated 2nd degree BSN program. I checked their website last night and I have all of the pre reqs completed but it didnt say anything about the cost or competitiveness on their site. If anyone has done their 2nd degree program before can you give me some insight? Thanks!

Is it true that if you have completed the BS prereq's for Indiana State, that you just have to submit the application to the nursing department and you will be accepted for the following fall semester?

I have a friend who is doing her prereq's and she is the one who told me that. I don't understand how that can be, though, with all the competition for nursing programs?

As far as I know, she just applied as a transfer, too. She doesn't go to the school right now, but will be moving there in June. She hasn't even finished all the prereq's either, which has me doubly confused.

Where to start.. I've finally decided nursing is for me. I just recently had my son back in July and I'm hoping to start classes this January (Spring 2010). I've planned everything out and I'm very sure I would like to apply for the Spring 2011 RN nursing program. I'm well aware that in order to do that I will have to complete ANP101 this Spring and ANP102 this summer. Does anyone have any information about taking ANP102 over the summer? Was it very difficult? How time consuming? What was your schedule like? Also, I was told before that taking ANP online wouldn't count toward getting into the nursing program. Is this true?
I'm planning on taking ANP 101, English Comp, and Intro to Psychology this Spring while taking care of my 6 month old while I'm not in class. Am I taking on too much?

Has anyone else started during the Spring and how long did it take you to finish the program completely?

Thanks so much!!

Impossible for find a job for a new RN

I am a new grad from Ivy Tech with an RN license. I have been looking for a job at Indiana hospitals with no luck whatsoever for several months already. Not even a phone call from a recruiter or an interview. I graduated on top of my class with a GPA of 3.92, but I do not have any hospital experience, which I am sure is hurting my chances to find a job right now. But, on the other hand, I am sure I am not the only RN graduate who was not working in a hospital during school. Has anyone else faced this problem? Any leads? Really love nursing, but just can't get in...
