I know it's all relative, but I'm all about the guessing game. :spin:

Pre-req GPA 3.43 A's -Nutrition and Comp class B's - A&P, A&P lab, psych

TEAS score 88.2%
Reading - 97.5%
Math - 84.4%
Science - 80%
English - 90.9%

Obviously, we don't apply for 5 months. Would you retake the TEAS, just for the heck of it? My neighbor seems to think that the TEAS is like the GRE or SAT - you either know it or you don't. I got 1180 and 1200 on my SATs so I kind of agree. WDYT?

Hi everyone. I will be graduating as an RN in April. I currently live in Fort Myers, but am considering a move to Sarasota. I was wondering what the starting pay for a new grad on a Progressive Care Unit or ER would be. I am specifically looking at Doctors Hospital Of Sarasota. Can anyone tell me what kind of shift differential and weekend differential they offer and what the new grad rate is? I will be coming with 6 months experience as a CNA on a med surg floor and 1 year of CNA-A experience in an Open Heart ICU. Hopefully that will make me a little more marketable. Thanks for any help and advise you can give me.

I'm currently finishing up my pre-reqs for the nursing program that I will be applying to in the fall. However, in the meantime I'm looking for a way to transition over the medical field (to gain som experience) from the banking industry... in addition, I'm going to eventually have to quit my full time job and I've been trying to seek out any phlebotomy programs in my area to enroll in prior to acceptance into nursing school.

Does anyone have any recommendations for programs in the Treasure Coast area in the Florida or in Palm Beach FL? I'd be willing to make the trek down.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!! :D

Thank you!!

Hello everyone :spin:

I'm a senior in nursing school and have attended most of my clinical rotations, including the ER. I absolutely loved the ER!! I started looking for possible courses I could take to prepare me more in depth and maybe give me an edge on other new and old graduates applying for a position in the ER. I've heard about two courses: ACLS and TNCC. Does anyone know the prerequisites needed to attend these courses and if they really do prepare you better? I also wanted to ask if starting in Med/Surg. would be a smarter move before just going straight into the ER? I'm open to doing whatever it takes to work as a ER nurse whether right after graduation or in the near future. :D

Hello Nurses,
Im a senior in highschool and iv wanted to become an CRNA for the longest time, but unfortunetly i have very vague information on the things i need information on.

First i wanted to know how many years it takes to become, because a whole lot of people tell me its 5 years and then alot of people tell me its 6, becuase 4 years to get a bsn, then 2 for crna school.

Also iv heard you have to get into crna you have to be a rn, do a certain amount of hours, i think a year worth, and have the bsn.

Can you be in college to get a bsn and get certified to be a rn nurse. while in college for bsn. and do your year the last year of the bsn or do you have to wait and do it after?

Because if thats the case it be a total of six years to be crna?

i just would like a lot of information for my question. Please let me knooww

Sincerely Chelsea:redbeathe

I'm going to be taking nursing pre-req's at BC starting in January. I'm wondering what A&P I and it's lab and A&P II and it's lab are going to be like? What is the lab like? I'm interested in the course work we'll be doing. This will probably sound dumb, but are we going to be seeing or working on bodies/animals...? I just don't know at all!! Am very new to this. Before BC I was a psychology major for 3 years at UCF. So as you can imagine, this is all a bit of a blank slate right now.

In this tough economy, does anyone know of nursing homes or home health agencies that ever offer tuition reimbursement to nurse employees. I don't need to know of specific facilities, or number of years one must work to qualify, etc. I just need to know if the possibility of tuition reimbursement exists in South Florida, apart from working in a hospital. Thanks, in advance, to anyone who can offer any information. Mari
