Hello everyone! :imbar
Sorry if I may sound ignorant with the question(s) I will ask:confused::confused:, but can anyone enlighten me with the issues of applying as a registered nurse under the California Board of Nursing?

I graduated my nursing degree in the Philippines last March 2008, then i took the board exam directly without further ado in June 2008 but i was unfortunate enough to passed it, for short i dont have local license yet then three months after i got married to an American citizen he petition me and now im in the USA in Wisconsin state as an immigrant.

I've only recently gained interest in taking the NCLEX under the state of California..but I know there are issues with regards to it, but I don't particularly know what they are...can anyone share their infos?

Can you give me advice what should I do first ? what should be my first step? do i need to contact an agency for full course-by-course report? or submit an application to CA BON? or what? i dont know what to do now i cant even figure out whats the first thing to do, :Crash:so please if anyone care to help me with this issues please answer my question or give some advice that would be a great help.

thanks!(,")

Here is a short summary of my situation.

Here is a short summary of my situation.
Currently I'm a third year student at Orange Coast College. In my first two years I wanted to become pharmacist then on the third year(this year) I decided that the career is not for me. I picked Computer Science at first and actually took one class and I do not like it at all. Afterward I've been looking into Nursing career ever since(6 months already). I don't want to let me parents down and I feel like the longer i stay in this school the more they disappointed in me.
Just today, I typed in "I hate nursing" in google just to check out the cons for this career and to my surprise there are so many that actually starting to worry me. I've already do many research and here are some of the cons I've found:
1. Underpaid + Overwork.
2. Really really really stressful career.
3. People don't give you respect (coworker + patients)
4. Screw up schedules (ruined your social life)
5. There are many more but it seems like my thread is getting long...

I have a few questions for Nurses.
1. DO you like/hate your job? why?
2. DO you recommend nursing career for students? why?
3. DO you regret going into nursing career??
4. Is it true that there are variety of nursing jobs in one hospital?? for example if you hate your area/floor you can pick a different one in the same hospital and have totally different experience??

Please please answer these questions from the bottom of your heart. I'm so depressed right now. Right now I just want to rip my B*lls out with my bare hands cuz I don't feel like I'm a man anymore. I don't know since when have I become this indecisive and so low in confidence.

Hi nurses,
I graduated last September, with A BSN and I am having trouble finding a job having no prior experience except for clinicals. My nursing school was in PA, had previously lived in DFW metroplex so after school decided to come back. Even the non-hospital facilities are reluctant to hire. A couple of them that I had interviews with just told me they know I won't stay at their facilities. I applied for the January internships, have already received a bunch of regrets except for two and now I am worried for how long I am going to be waiting. FYI, I already passed my NCLEX-RN. Need your guidance nurses out there. Thanks.
There are jobs posted that new grads could potentially fill so dust off those resumes and try to snatch these opportunities up if you can (navigate to some of the jobs not closing until 2010, for the less experience or no experience requirements.) Best of luck to you all!!!!

I had an interview for a job in a local nursing home with a great reputation. It went well. The interviewer talked alot about the job and hiring procress. She asked to tell me about myself, my strengths that I have to give(not weaknesses) and what shifts I am able to work(all shifts). Also she mentioned something about my current retail job giving me benefits.

Then she took me on a tour of the facility which I am guessing is a good sign. It was gorgeous. Very clean, the staff was so nice and welcoming.

But as we got back to the front she asked me if I was CPR certified. I am not. So I am taking a BLS class within the next week.

I want to send a thank you letter but I didn't get her last name and she stated her position I am assuming it was the director of nursing. I was so shaky I can't remmeber. I just got her first name. How should I address the letter?

I recently graduated and passed the NCLEX. I live in Michigan and since there are no jobs here because all of the auto workers who got laid off have their wifes go back to work as nurses and every hospital wants a nurse with at least one year's experience and every hospital is hiring from within, nurse techs and aides who just passed the NCLEX , I would like to know if I can legally work as a nursing assistant/aide while having an RN license.

I graduate in May and have started the job search. I currently work in an OR as a tech (its a pretty sweet job). I have a job lined up as a circulator in the OR come May if I want it. However, I don't know if I am pretty certain that I will be bored quickly. I have scrub experience and that is the one thing about my job I love however, I won't get to do that as often if I am a circulating nurse. I have a great raport with the entire department including the surgeons and I hate to leave the unit. I have recently decided that I enjoy critical care and would like to work in PACU. Most critical care units in the area hospitals hire graduate nurses because they can mold them. Do you think the PACU is something I should pursue right now or should I get more experience first? Any suggestions on what I can offer to my supervisor to ensure her that I will be fully prepared for the job?

I took my final this past week for my last semester of school. I passed :) With that comes lots of company to my house for graduation and my poor house hasn't been kept up to standards the last 2 years. Up till this past June I have been pretty organized with my school stuff but 4th semester hit and there was no room for anything. Im now trying to gather and organize all my school stuff from the last two years and put it "away". I was curious how long to keep, or if to keep at all, things like notes, power points from lectures, note cards, what textbooks etc. Its amazing how much of this accumulated over the last 2 years lol.

Thanks for your ideas.
