Transitions

Nursing Students Excelsior

Published

I am currently taking Transition through Excelsior and this is my discussion for this week.. I have to pick which style and write 250 words justifying why.... I just want to know which you think to make sure I am right!!!!

The RN approaches the new nurse manager regarding two of the unlicensed assistive personnel on the night shift who are not obtaining impatient weights at the end of the shift or answering call lights promptly because they were busy on their cell phone checking Facebook. The nurse manager told the RN, "you are the professional and it is important that you talk to the UAPs independently to resolve these concerns. Both of those staff members have worked here a long time and are kind to the residents."

Identify the style of leadership this nurse manager is using...

I think she is using Democratic leadership.....

What do you think? Laissez-Faire Style, Democratic Style or Authoritarian Style

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.
Specializes in EMS, ED, Trauma, CEN, CPEN, TCRN.

How would you define each style? I think that will give you your answer.

Well looking at the Democratic Leadership I feel as though it fit this scenario... Just wanted some feedback before I wrote the 250 word discussion...
