Toughest nursing test/class?

Students Excelsior

Published

What would you say is the toughest nursing test/class you've had to take? What was so tough about it? What would you suggest to other students?

A. toughest nursing class - Med Surg II

B. what was tough about it - nothing the instructor taught was EVER on the test

C. what I would suggest - take lots of notes, study hard anyway (despite B), and take lots of practice questions, use whatever is at your fingertips to study, a lot of times the book comes with adjunct CDs etc, and get a study partner

If you are asking about the Excelsior exams, most students find Lifespan 3 to be the most difficult, followed by Lifespan 2. I would recommend really using the content guide for those and doing the required reading. I always recommend the EC practice exams, too.

Because EC students are already healthcare people of some sort, everyone has different strengths and weaknesses with subject matter, so answers may really vary.

Is this a test at EC?

I would say LPN med surge or perhaps even RN med surge. The toughest part is that blueprints were put up too close to the tests to the point where you had to cram everything in a short period of time. Retaking your notes and studying is a tough task to do. Plus our blueprints was vague. It would list something like "10 math questions". Really?! What kind of math? Dosage, conversions, ...what kind of math?! Also, I heard our teacher was on probation and they got rid of her. Some instructors just can't teach.
