Im thinking about trying to earn ADN through EC & i need to take Microbiology. Can anyone who has taken this class through EC suggest what books they found helpful to study & pass the credit by exam. I am about to print off the online study guide EC offers & didnt know if it was best to buy the required books through their bookstore or find the same books for a cheaper price elsewhere or if it was best that i just buy a totally different book. Ive read a lot of threads about people being very successful by just studying other books that arent even listed so I would greatly appreciate any info that i recieve.

I am working on it right now, I have the Tortora's Intro to Micro audiobook and Microbiology DeMystified.

Good luck to you!

Ditto what beachnurse said. I did not by Tortora's printed book though, I downloaded the Vangonotes audio book and it was sufficient enough with Micro Demystified.

Thanks! Im having a hard time trying to get in the groove of things..i ended up buying the totora micro book & study guide but seriously thinking about buying EC course study because im confused on exactly what to study. Im going over the whole chapter making notecards & i feel that its going to take a lifetime doing it this way.

I had micro demystified, an old tortora book and studygroup101 notes. I also checked out youtube videos and some of the links in the studygroup notes. I did pretty well considering that science is really not my thing and I only studied for 2 1/2 weeks!!

I'm kinda dreading Micro... it looks rather...'challenging'... but seems like it will be interesting. I've got Micro Demystified (recommended by Lunah), a Tortora text, and I also bought a couple of Lisa Arends' CDs... this one and a Dev Psych.

I agree with the others I used Microbiology demystifed and TCN module and passed.

What's the TCN model?

Thanks, Susan

Susan,

It is 'The College Network' module for Microbiology. You can find these used on Ebay for a fraction of the original cost.

I've been told the other resources are better, and be sure to order the practice exams from Excelsior.

Good luck!
